Also if you are going to be ticky tack the defender kicks the ball forward from where the foul occurred. Like the tweet says, you have to be looking to send someone off to make that call. Its not like Rice put it into the stands or 50 yards away. That would be somewhat justifiable. This is a nonstarter and at most you tell him not to do it again. What you don't do is change the entire outlook of the game with 30+ minutes to go. Look, I want Arsenal to win it all as much as anyone else on this thread. My faith in Arteta is based on what he has led this squad to accomplish in his time in charge - an FA cup and a return to the Champions League. There has beven unquestionable improvement with him at the helm, and I sincerely hope it continues. To be the best means the squad has to find ways on the pitch and on the touchline to win the games they should and games they shouldn't, and this season there won't be many games where Arsenal will go into them as an even or underdog opponent.
Brighton had 22 shot attempts today to Arsenal's 11, and Brighton had over 63% possession, with admittedly much of the difference coming once Rice was sent off. That being siad, these are not the stats a top team will allow if they are supposed to compete for the title.
Margins are thin between winners and losers at the top. Can't continue to leak points unexpectedly if Arsenal are to win it all.

Every single team loses points to a squad they aren't supposed it. It happens every year except twice. It sucks but it's part of playing in the toughest league in the world.
Can you name a clearly better manager in the world than Arteta? There is probably one that you can say is better without any argument. He has rebuilt this team and we were so damn close to winning the EPL last year and we were the dominate top six team. Arteta isn't infallible but ****, he's really ****ing good and it doesn't appear like we can replace him with anyone better.
Brighton had four shots on goal. Four. And they did that against a team with 10 men, and hurt Odegaard, and our second best midfielder being sent off for a really ****ty goal. Honestly, we still should have won.
My criticism of Arteta is that he keeps dragging Partey out there but it's not as if we have someone clearly better at the moment to play that role.
