Telluride has been pretty rough this week - but it would be way worse without the 7" last weekend. Mornings are icy and afternoons slushy. Most of the mountain is still skiable for now though. It's gonna be a lot worse for the Dallas and other spring breaks next week.

Day 1 of lake louise today. Snow is overall great, but a few of the groomers are a bit icy. We're getting 6" tonight so that should fix it up. My 2 older boys killed it on the blues, the younger daughter is getting more comfortable with some of the steeper greens. Obviously the blues here are much steeper than those at our home Wisconsin hill

Circling back - we got a nice little surprise half foot of pow last night. Temps down too. There are some spots that are very skiied off and what not but low temps should hold through the weekend to where you at least have some base even if it's super warm and mashed potatoes by end of day

Thanks for the update! Getting excited to at least be away from work for a week lol. I'm hoping maybe there is more "surprise" in store Saturday night to help things last even better through the end of our trip next Friday.

OpenSnow showing some chances over the weekend. That's about what it looked like yesterday before we got our little dump overnight. I will say - today was one of the most fun days skiing I've ever had. Crowds are non existent and what we got overnight was just enough for a beautiful spring powder day.

anyone have any experience with high winds in Hoosier Pass? Trying to get up to Breck. They are calling for gust above 70 mph today. Think I might wait a day.

Last day at Snowbasin. They have 8 lifts open but closed off a few trails overnight on one lift. My 6 yr old is getting off the kids slope and going to do some steeper greens and maybe hit a blue offshoot then back to green. My 8 yr old is going to back to the top of the mountain and take some blues down. She's a little nervous but she has the skill. Super proud of both of them for doing something their parents can't and enjoying it. I'm working to improve my knee/leg and will see about trying my luck next year.

Dumped at Sunshine Village overnight and this morning. Unfortunately got stuck on the access road for two hours after a bus went off the road. Sun is out now so should be a fantastic afternoon.

Chris Tomer posted huge high in Co, UT, NM that persists through 4/1. Spring skiing is here, praying for some big April storms to come back!

Blowing like crazy down here in the springs today so I'm sure it's pretty wild up there.

To be fair, last year I went in April and got hit with 18" my first day at WC and a few more after that. It can happen. Just seems like it's not likely this year.

I think the problem is staying open if there's no snow and hoping some will come. I guess they could open a skeleton crew if some hills get dumped on in April.

Sorry for the late reply just got off the hill. They called for some insane gusts for Breck proper in the forecast and it was windy but nothing crazy. Roads are bone dry too, take it easy and you'll be fine

Man, today was incredible at WP. Got on the main gondola at 9:15am and there were two groups in front of us. Got off the mountain at 3:45 and we might have waited twice for more than 5-6 chairs all day. 95% of the time there was either nobody in line or only a 1-2 chair wait. Even though there hasn't been great snow all year, the ski conditions were very good. Only a handful of the runs had small brown patches showing through. I expected much worse, but was pleasantly surprised.

Breck was awesome too. These two guys absolutely shredded it on the groomers today (4 and 6 years old). We made laps from 9:00 - 3:30 with just a 30 min break for lunch. This is their third year up on skis and I couldn't be more impressed with how far they progressed this year

Thinking about an end of March weekend trip and hoping to see good snow reports before I decide where to go.

They got 14" that first week of March and that probably saved it. They lost 4" of base this week and the bottom of little cat is all slush

thanks…wind might have been 5 mph at Hoosier pass when we drove through. This is why I don't ever listen to weather man warnings.

ETA:hahah, I think I just saw you get off the elevator at Main Street station?

Must have been my doppleganger, we are over on peak 8. Glad yall made it in. Hope yall get some good skiing in, this last little dump was nice but it has been slushy in the afternoon. Looks like chances of snow back end of the weekend too, hoping it sneaks up on you like the Wednesday storm did

Here's some shots from our surprise powder day in Breck yesterday. Beautiful spring skiing! I was on some Blizzard Rustler 9's (new 2025 models with a little added metal underfoot from the previous iteration). They handled everything from the early morning chalk to the afternoon mashed potatoes as well as the powder from last Friday's dump and the Wednesday surprise. Best at nothing but pretty damn good at everything.

Horseshoe bowl and everything off T Bar was in great shape relatively speaking. Independence bowl was nice with the fresh pow but sneaky rocky in spots. Didn't ski C chair. Peak 7 was pristine for the most part for laps while waiting for 6/T Bar/Independence to open. 6 was divine on the powder day but wouldn't mess with Intuition bowl on the back side. Nothing but rocks the first 60 yards in.

On a more serious note, there was a fatality off the Peak 8 lake chutes yesterday. Stay safe out there folks.

I believe there are set dates from the forest service in which they can operate as well I believe. Could be wrong though.

Big trout has some good beer. I like the hazy. If you haven't gone to Idlewild distillery, do it

Food is really good too and their cocktails are awesome.

Cool little joint in a basement right off 40.

Yes! Been to Idlewild a couple times and definitely like it.

We actually stay in Fraser at the 3-story townhomes across from Safeway. Fraser has a a couple breweries (Vicious Cycle and Camber Brewing). Vicious Cycle is much more spacious, but both have good options. Fraser Valley Distilling is a good option too.

That being said, Riley and I crushed one of our favorite WP restaurants last night. Man, I love their pizza!

Yessir!!!

We've stayed in those townhomes (Grand Park) a few times. Walk over to viscous cycle for trivia.

Hernando's is our jams. I love sitting next to the fireplace in the middle of the reminds me of the open air one at the lodge in White Christmas.

Looks empty. Lucky! That place is a zoo on the weekends.

Watch out for those peppers in the salad. HOT.

rather be fishing

Frantically trying to wrap up a couple of work things so I can take the afternoon off. Schweitzer is sitting at 17" since yesterday and it's still coming down. This weekend is going to be the best weekend of the entire season.

Just finished 4 days at Purgatory. snow was generally fine. They are starting to shut down some runs.

Im not sure if this is par the course for Purgatory but they can't seem to keep lift #3 or #5 running. 2 out of 4 days they had to shut them down for operational issues. Today, wveryone had to march from #3 to #8 through mud, water and a touch of snow. Waited 45 minutes before they finally gave us a real update that we were basically SOL. The day before we waited for 30 minutes. Then shuffled to #5 only to have that break down for another 20 before we could get on.

All that said, we had a great time and my oldest son really caught on and got to ski with us for 2 days.

Heading to Sun Valley ID Wednesday for two days of skiing. Hoping for good spring conditions. But also realize an average day of skiing is better than a good day at work.

3 at Purg is usually pretty reliable. They only run 5 when it is pretty busy there. As the conditions get crappy on the back side they start closing 8 and 5 to reduce operating costs.

Got back from Taos this afternoon. Snow wasn't great (or even good) but it was white (ish) and slidey(ish). Kids had a great time and really progressed. I was worried on Sunday when my daughter started pouting on her first run down the bunny hill as a refresher and by Wednesday she was skiing bumps and hiked into a black bowl. I got to ski kachina peak which was a bucket list. The mountain was e-m-p-t-y all week until yesterday. Sunday -Wednesday I literally never waited for a lift or even rode with a stranger. Thursday was slightly busier.

Watched a kid straight line off the side of the mountain and had to go rescue him. He was complaining to his dad that someone cut him off. His dad told him he should try turning first. Kid was fine but whiney.

We made the call to bail after a half day on Thursday because my wife was getting sick so she packed up the house while the kids and I skied for another few hours. When I told my son we didn't have time to ski the bowl again with my buddy and his daughter he threw a fit, enough so that we werent going to have time to do a few more laps which made my daughter cry. Kids being mad/sad about not skiing isn't exactly what I would call great parenting but I think it means I'm doing something right as a ski dad.

Thanks Charismatic Megafauna for the hook up. Super happy with the skis.

You know you've been spring skiing in New Mexico when washing the mud off when you get home is one of your chores.

Steamboat started shutting down some lifts early this afternoon due to high winds. The 4" we got the other night was mostly just dust on crust, but was a nice change to conditions for a day or so. It's been nice and not too crowded M-F, but heavier today and I'm expecting crowds to pick up a lot tomorrow being Saturday and a spring breaker overlap. Expected March skiing yields heavy slush in the afternoons, especially at the base. Chance of thunderstorms and snow later tomorrow!!

Just got done with 3 days at lake louise. Great snow pack and days 2-3 both got 3-4" over night. Back side bowls had knee deep powder. Fantastic skiing as always. Kids had a blast and the boys crushed (ish) their first black
