Pulled kids out for 4 days in January. Got a truancy warning letter. Moved along with our lives. So much cheaper than Christmas or SB but time is limited as will be harder to do when kids enter middle school.

To everyone asking - no ski hill is making snow at at this point in the season. What there is whats there and when it melts, it's gone. Gonna be a short spring season for most of CO/NM/UT.

What happens if you pull your kids out of school for a week these days versus waiting on Spring Break? I remember the rich kids growing up would be gone for a week in the winter to go on their fancy ski trips. I don't remember anything ever happening to them.

My daughter skied her first blue today. Had a bit of a rough time as she said she had two hard falls. Her class went up to the top of the mountain and basically did a blue on the top half and then a green on the bottom half. So she skied down about 1500' of elevation in her 4th day of skiing ever.
Tonight when putting her to bed she tells us how scared she is to go skiing tomorrow if she has to do that blue again. I'm hoping with some sleep and some encouragement she will be better in the morning.
She has the skill set according to the ski instructor for her it is mental. I tend to think she just needs to get back on the mountain and take things at a pace she feels comfortable with and it will build confidence. But if she wakes up in a self defeating mood I don't know if we push her to go or have the ski school put her with a lower group.

My wife was also terrified of blues even though she could do it. I never pushed her. Just stayed patient. We did a lot of greens together. Now she doesn't want to do anything slow and loves blue groomers.
Obviously a wife/daughter relationship is different but moral of the story is be patient and make sure she has fun.

I feel responsible. I started a ski shop.

That doesn't look like 6 inches of fresh snow….
