I am not sure what area this is, but this is what the outfitter told me to apply for. I am pumped as this will be my first elk hunt. We are going with Wes Armenta out of Bull Valley Outfitters.

Is that rifle? I'm not sure how the NM codes work.
We're doing archery w/ Wes too - Elk2-329 so doesn't sound like we'll be in the same camp.

What's the details on that elk hunt? Always curious how that works out here since you aren't tied to season dates and could theoretically hunt them year round.

You are correct. Since there is no season, we set it up for the rut. I was able to come in and hunt end of September with a rifle. I don't believe there are a ton of quote "tags" or spots available. My experience was that even though there is no season or bag limit, the ranchers are good stewards and control the number of bulls harvested. I was able to hunt them in 2018. Just kind of worked out last minute to do it again this fall.

So after 30 years of on and off applying, I think I had 15 or so weighted points, I drew mountain goat in Colorado. Unit G12. It is south of Aspen. North of me. I know several people that have hunted it, so I won't be going in blind.

Last time I drew something like this, bighorn sheep, I had a scheduling conflict and hired an outfitter to do the scouting. He didn't. Not this time. I'm going to know where they are before the season starts.

Which 2 drainages does Buckskin pass span?

I just received the maps I ordered. I have a lot of data on prior kills. Kind of looks like there are goats everywhere up high.

Some scouting/getting in high altitude shape will start in July. Serious scouting will start in late August.
