YBWS as in, Young Blotched Water Snake or Yellow Bellow Water snake?
Thanks to this thread (well previous years) I know the answer. Because of the vertical lines along the mouth you know it's not a moccasin. Harmless water snake.Quote:
Of course the real question I should have asked was more along the lines of "This ain't a moccasin is it?"

Ratsnake vs. Bats Round 2
I had a good amount of interest in the video I posted a while back of great plains ratsnakes catching bats in a cave in Williamson county. This week I pulled the trail cam card and the bats are just now starting to move back into the cave in any real numbers so the snakes have moved in as well. Many more bats will be in the cave soon. Activity will get more intense as the summer gets closer but here is a video of some of this weeks action. At one point I had six ratsnakes hunting at the same time. I wish I had more cams to put in there to see what all I'm missing out of view. This is on my YouTube channel and here is the connection to this particular video

I was surprised at the bluntness of the tail. Tail made me think cottonmouth but the head didn't match.
