Door bell rings today...my neighbor asked me to come look at a snake in her backyard because I have "scolded" them before about killing snakes they come across. She wanted me to tell them if it was venomous before they killed it. (He made it!)

Come on... one snake doesn't mean there is a feral population of puff adders in Katy. People are so sensationalist.
what do you use for bait in your traps?MouthBQ98 said:
I had another capture today. Juvenile copperhead in one of the minnow traps.
Put out some traps for the rodents on your property, since you just killed the thing that was trying to get rid of them for you.YellAgs said:
Rat snake
I will never have a snake as a pet, but I give you my word I will not kill non-venomous snakes. I've learned quite a bit on this thread.zooguy96 said:
My mom used to be the same way. Eventually, she was able to have a corn snake in her classroom. It can be overcome.
Of course, it probably helped to have a son who had 50+ snakes.

I want to thank everyone on this thread. I suffer from extreme Ophidiophobia (fear of snakes). I was mowing my parents land today in the country and I saw a rat snake (I think). I moved to another part of the land to mow and allow him/her to leave the area. Although I will never share your admiration and appreciation for snakes, I am no longer in the only good snake is a dead snake camp. Thank you.
