I didn't get a pic, but I had a hognose in my flower beds as I was doing yard work this past weekend. I got my boys (6 and 3) outside to look at him and they really enjoyed his "cobra head" and the hissing. He was safely relocated to the woods across the street.

The mrs. found two texas brown snakes in our flowerbeds over the weekend. Thanks to the 2017 snake thread and the identification of the texas brown she encountered last year as her ally in the war on slugs she did not lop off any heads. She got me to retrieve the one she had managed to scoop up and into a yard bag. Both snakes were simply relocated away from the area she was working in but remained inside our flowerbeds in order to eat the slugs.

Saw this little guy dart into a flowerbed off the sidewalk as I was getting back from dinner, and caught it. My ring for scale, and it is like a size 9 ring, so not really big.

I thought so too. I had another one in my yard last weekend, but the coloration was much more dull. So much so that at first, I was unsure if it was a cottonmouth because his head was under some bushes.

This is also a brown snake but more vividly colored and younger than the one a few posts up.

Click on the caption at the bottom. I'm having problems getting insta photos to load right. It's a photo of 15+ rattlers plus a king snake or two and a rat snake or two. Pretty brutal
