I got my wife Tomadachi Life Living the Dream for Mothers Day. The only game she ever likes playing is Animal Crossing. I figured this would be a good substitute while waiting for the next AC. She put my son to work creating Miis that look like her favorite AC characters. I will say the game itself is pretty hilarious.

Just started Forza Horizon 6... It's great so far!

About 3/4 through Pragmata, will finish it soon.

Edit: On the retro front, playing Contra Shattered Soldier (PS2). Contra is one of my favorite old school franchises and this is my first time playing this one. Completed the 1st level... So far it's really cool.

I just downloaded it last week since Steam had it 75% off. I have never played any of the RDR games.

I bought the AstroBot game to play with my son who is 3. I do the controls while he holds the controller. It's a good 15-30 minutes of bonding time every few days and he loves it.
Are there any other simple games like this out there? Would appreciate recommendations.

Both are fun but if those are your two choices I'd go with HZD, it's one of my all time favorites. Make sure you also get the Frozen Wilds DLC, I think it might be more fun than the regular game and takes the difficulty up a notch even after you're good.

Ghost of Tsushima is fun, but there comes a point when it becomes tedious after you've got the gameplay down, except for when you're battling the bosses.

No Man's Sky is 60% off on Playstation and Steam right now so I finally picked it up. Only played a couple hours so far but it seems like the kind of game I could sink a lot of hours into.

Greatest game ever. Take your time and soak it in. Once in Chapter 2 and beyond delay missions until one of the gang members comes and finds you. Hunt, explore, etc.

Man just saw the Steamdeck is now selling their 2 models for $790 and $950. $300 price increase. These prices are getting wild.

That is dumb but I assume it's a result of chip shortages.

Probably. Gonna be interesting to see what the Steam console ends up being, but have to think that it'll be similar to those prices with its hardware. Begs the question of when the next generation of consoles come out, are we looking at pay $1k for a PS6 or the like

Seems like something will have to give if we get a third console option in the market at that price range. I think most people agree that MS will exit the console hardware market which might make it more sustainable.

Regarding Steamdeck, I don't see why someone would pay almost $1k for a handheld system. In fact, a quick perusal on Amazon shows it's actually fetching $1500. That's laughably insane. In what world is that a feasible purchase? Wow.

Like most, haven't had as much game time as I'd like, but so far Forza Horizon 6 has been really good!

If you listen to any of the reviews, most of them say what I would agree with... it's a much better progression system that opens up the map, races, cars, etc. at a bit of a slower pace which is much appreciated.

I play with a basic/portable wheel & headset setup and it's a very chill game at average / above average difficulty. I spend a lot of time with the radio stations off, enjoying the sound of the engine as I explore & unlock the map driving to different races.

Laugh it up! Haha. We just beat Astrobot, probably the first game Ive beaten in 20 years and it was an oddly satisfying feeling. The boy was sad because it was over...so that's a new thing.
Anyways, we're going to play a Crash Bandacoot game that Google says is similar and it's free on PS+.
I don't have a way of putting in the hours a lot of you do, at this time in my life so I'll take the time and bonding while it's available.
I am looking forward to the new CFB game, didn't buy it since 2014 so can't wait to get destroyed by the new generation!

My son turns 3 tomorrow. We'll do a little SNES Turtles in Time but his hands aren't big enough for the SNES controller. Sometimes we play the Switch Pokemon Snap and I'll take one controller (aiming) and he takes another (snapping the pictures, throwing bait, etc).

Pretty fun, but I feel like we aren't too far from true co-op times.

New DLC dropped for Warhammer: Rogue Trader. That means a brand new play through is needed.

Season Passes confuse the **** out of me. I can't tell what's in those vs not.

I have base game + Void Shadows.

I do not have Lex Imperialis or The Infinite Museion.

But then I see in Season Pass there is additional story DLC beyond above??

Season passes are just bundles. Promissory packs with a small discount (at MSRP) that get you a set amount of DLC the day they launch. S1 got you Void shadows and Lex and a smaller one, S2 is the new one that just launched, Infinite and another that will launch at a later time with another smaller one also at a later time.

The whole business model behind season passes is kinda bunk and lots of discussion around them in general. I don't mind Owlcats though as I generally love their games and do want their DLCs in a timely manner as opposed to waiting for a sale on them. Season passes also help the smaller studios with infusions of cash to keep them going. So of course, the bigger ones latched on.

I'm still playing Fallout 76. I think this game is probably underrated as a Fallout game at this point. The amount of content in it is huge, map is huge, absurd number of quests. Get to build your own base which is pretty cool.

There are 4 modes. I paid the $12 (it's a monthly sub) to get a private server to remove randos. Since I got the base game for "free" on PS Plus, you are effectively then paying $12 for the single player campaign on the private server. You can flip over to "Adventure" mode anytime you want if you want to potentially intermingle with others, and it's a very non-confrontational multiplayer mode. No PVE or PVP really.

I decided to pay the $12 and remove others because it gets you unlimited storage and removes some quirks in Adventure mode like happening upon a location and everyone there is already dead. Goal is to finish the game for $12 and then not re-up sub. However, even if I don't worst case I'm paying $24 for a massive single player Fallout game.

So, factoring S1, I take it I can't get those smaller DLCs in that without buying the full SP even though I already own Void Shadows? I only see the major expansions as stand-alone purchases.

Ah, my bad. S1 had no smaller one. It was just the two story DLCs. Void shadows and Lex Imperialis. S2 has the Appearance pack with it. I was thinking the Voidfarer pack was part of S1 but it has always been separate.

Looking at the DLC page, everything is purchasable on my screen except the appearance pack, which is part of S2.

Finished Final Fantasy 2 and wanted a quick break before jumping into 3. Got a hair and went back and played StarCraft 2 campaign again. Was just going to dabble but I always forget how good they actually are and before I knew it I completed all three factions. Tons of fun and well written stories.

Nostalgia gaming is where I'm at these days.

I went back and started playing AOE2 again a year ago and wow, that is now a hi-res game with multiple new campaign expansions a year and decades of awesome customer campaign content. I'm still playing through it all.

If I want an RPG, there's a mod that allows me to play Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the same save file.

You are in for a treat when you reach FF6. That's one of my most played RPG's of all time. Great characters and story.

Here I was thinking I was weird to be my age and still playing video games. Right now, I play Fortnite with the 11 and 9 year old grands. And I have all the classic Sonic games that I play all of the time.

Played resident evil requiem and it immediately became a top ten game of all time for me. Then I played the rest of them (0village). Now I am finishing Alan Wake and will begin the Mass Effect series. I'm the biggest halo fan and people keep telling me to try mass effect.

I tried a couple times in the past to start the first one but stopped since at the beginning idk why just didn't click with me early. Gonna push through especially since I know the second one is extremely highly regarded. Also I love how the guy who voiced The Arbiter is in it.

It'll be worth it! For 1, I think some of the side content can be rewarding but you can honestly stick to the main story and call it a day. Maybe swing by the Citadel in between story missions so you can experience some great little bits (the news reporter that harasses you, the Hanar preacher, the super tudey Volus ambassador).

For lore, I'd recommend finding a man named Admiral Kohoku in the Citadel Council chambers. His quest line is pretty good and fleshes out the universe a bit. Optional for sure, so bail if you are really struggling to stay engaged, but I always make time for it on my replays.

The legendary edition should make 1 a lot more palatable. Also, the classes are all pretty generic in 1 but get a lot more awesome with 2 and 3. I like playing as an Adept (biotic powers), Vanguard (biotics and muscle) or Infiltrator (tech, sniper) but if you prefer shooters, maybe just go with Soldier this time. But don't forget you have abilities that are worthwhile.

Main story, you can go in any order but I think my preferred order is finding Liara on Therum, then Noveria, then Feros, then Virmire. All the squad mates are great but Garrus and Wrex are GOATs.

Damn. Might be time for replay #14.

Yeah it's good. I just played it a few months ago and glad I avoided any and all spoilers. Let's just say the Old Gods of Asgard show up in a big way again in this one.

I won't give a single detail about what's coming other than to say you will know it when you get there and it's one of the most well done and unique things I've seen in a video game.
