Correction raid drops on Friday. Also apparently Calus normal mode is dropping up to 335 regardless of what your level is.
For those who didn't get the DLC. Here's a pretty fair review of it. It does have some story and gameplay spoilers though.
Will anyone try to run the raid lair at any point this weekend?
I'm gonna be out of town but would like to get one in sometime next week.
Katydad and I should be up for Nightfall and/or raid sometime this weekend- neither of us has done either one yet so should be interesting and/or frustrating!

I actually thought it was good story just short. The 12th will drop some new updates too.

Haven't been on in a while (too much work around the house) but I plan on hopping on again early next week. Sigh.

Raid lair is up and after some exploring I think I found where you need a fireteam to move on. I'll keep looking around though.

Right as I say that, something happened and now I'm not sure what I did.
I'd say the purpose to doing heroic strikes is for the new milestone that comes with it. Another thing to do to build to max light.
But I guess if you don't want to play endgame after max light, what's the point? Idk. I don't hate it. I also didn't start playing D1 until January of this year, so I'm less likely to be burned out. And...I didn't play shooters for years until jumping on this game. So the more I play the better I can get and then perhaps I won't be the weak link at some point in the future.

The thing a lot of people are struggling with is we've seen the rise and fall of the game over and over and over again. D2 was a chance to restart and give us something to blow us away but what we got was 1 step forward in story and 10 steps waaay back in the rewards and how we get them. The end game in Destiny 1 was grinding those specific strikes, crucible, trials, or that one raid encounter for those awesome weapons and gear everybody else has, now its turning in tokens and grinding xp (which let's not even get into that whole ordeal) to get Eververse items. Eververse was 1st introduced as buying emotes, purely cosmetic, to help fund the live team in their updates. Great, Awesome. Then they added armor at a low level that could be brought up. Okay, Cool. Here they are taking Ghosts (now with solid in-game benefits), Ships, and Sparrows which we were able to get in D1 in-game and they have put them all in RNG loot boxes. This is not a great move.
So the gear is uninspiring, the lore abandoned, the grind non-existent, and they've made it clear the future of the game is Eververse.
That said I like popping the heads of dregs and the raids have been pretty cool so I'll stick around.

Spot on. I would say destiny 2 is a mile wide and an inch deep
Yeah from what I've read here and listened to people say in videos, that all makes sense. I don't even think it was until several months into my playing D1 that I understood that there was strike specific gear and all of that stuff. I was in "rush to get to 400 mode by grinding Archon's Forge" mode for a long time.
The whole thing about how the Live team never even talks to the regular development team kind of blew my mind. Also makes it understandable how this specific situation could happen. Hopefully they fix it over the next 3 years so we can go through it all again when D3 comes out.

Ran the raid lair last night with a group of randoms. It's fun and a unique raid but it's pretty short. Essentially it's two jumping puzzles and a 2 phase boss. The boss takes a lot of team coordination but it's pretty cool.
The loot/drops still suck. I pretty much got all tokens except for the new set chest piece. There was only 2 guns added: a grenade launcher and shotgun so that's kind of a letdown.
And the tokens are the exact same ones that you get from Leviathan, and when I turned them in I got old Leviathan stuff.

Boogie and I jumped on late this weekend to run the new story missions. Enjoyed it, and we'll always be down for a raid. That being said, the replay value of this game is really low right now for me. They need to make some changes before it's worth it to grind for gear and weapons. We'll try out the new raid lair, though. Just had hoped for a new full raid. This feels like the DLC when we got the prison of elders, woo hoo... Definitely a bit underwhelming thus far, to say the least.
All the time man. Been out on the plains all week. The eidolons are crazy.
You know there's something wrong with the game when just about no one from our massive clan is online the weekend after the DLC drops.

But, that's the only reason I have right now to do strikes or anything else. Kind of disappointing in that aspect. Tomorrow they are patching a few things such as purchasable items at vendors that should help.
I don't know that you'll see a lot changed in the end game until they have a TTK type expansion.
While the gameplay here in Destiny 2 is still some of the best minute to minute gameplay on consoles, they really did figure out a way to make that awesome gameplay loop unfun. Thats a pretty amazing accomplishment really.

I logged in last night to pick up the new gun from Xur and that's it. Based on the reviews I will probably stick to The Division for a little longer. There is something I never thought I would say
