Once you get the mechanics down (and the firepower to take down redbars), its really not all that hard.
It does sort of suck that you can't carry weaker players. Thats kinda fun.

Chalk this up to another raid with some great TexAgs guys that'll be forever annotated in the opening cinematic for Destiny 3. It was fun to see that the only raid I completed without a TexAg group the in D1 was PoE.
Wouldn't be the same going through a raid the first time without y'all. Thanks for making it a fun, and smooth, run! Hopefully once I get settled in where I'm heading I can run with y'all on a weekend during the day.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a ps4 pro. What do y'all think a reasonable selling price is for my used white Destiny edition ps4?
Is a PS Pro really worth it? I was thinking about it but then I looked at comparisons and was really underwhelmed. As a related sidenote, FIFA 18 is the first game I've seen to enable HDR on my regular PS4. I got the notice when it started up.
I think it is worth it but I also play on a 60" OLED. In addition I sold my normal PS4 for $200 (I think) so it ended up being a relatively cheap upgrade.MBAR said:

I have a 50 inch 4k TV. 60 inches would definitely allow you to see more of the detail but it's my understanding that the PS4 pro version isn't even rendering at 4k. You're right that by selling your prior ps4 it does make it a pretty cheap upgrade, though. I would have probably done it if the PS4 Pro had supported UHD blurays.

The DF comparison is what I'm basing my comments off of. There are technical differences in the games that the software picks up on, but they're so slight that they're fairly irrelevant. It was pretty underwhelming for me, but YMMV.
Just so I'm clear on how to manage the end game grind a few questions: I am at 220 now and just finished up campaign and talking to everyone at the tower.
1) Reputations- when should I start turning in rep tokens/gunsmith stuff? at 260+ ?
2) Bright dust- anything you "should" buy with this? Fireteam tokens? Do the tokens stack?
3) Strikes- how long do they usually run and what light level should you be prior to trying them?
4) Nightfall- from what I understand this is a harder version of a strike. LL 260 + ?
5) Raids- How long should I expect to be on for a raid and what LL 270 + ?
That is all I have for now. Hopefully can play some with you guys tonight if anyone is bored enough to help a noob through some strikes and/or crucibles.

You should save your tokens till 260+ if you're trying to power grind to get ready for the raid asap. Since you're just hitting 20, that doesn't seem to be the case. IMO, I found it more fun to just turn them in as I got them and level up to 260 faster. This will mean you level a bit slower when you get to 260, but if you're not in a hurry then the powerful engrams you get each week will get you there in a reasonable amount of time.
I only use bright dust on fireteam tokens.
I've yet to do a single nightfall, trails, and I've only been in the raid on the first day. All my characters are 295ish. It's not tough to level in this game at all.

Vendor packages have a soft cap at 260. At 260 they start dropping at your current max light level (excluding mods) minus 5. I don't think there's a good reason to save tokens for when you hit 260 as they won't help much at that point.

4) Nightfall- from what I understand this is a harder version of a strike. LL 260 + ? 260+ will make it double. 280+ is ideal, but you don't have to wait until then.
5) Raids- How long should I expect to be on for a raid and what LL 270 + ?You can run the raid in portions. Time varies wildly depending on the group and if everyone is working well together that night. A full raid competition might take 2-4 hrs, YMMV

3) They take around 15 minutes and you can do them comfortably right now.
4) The is a more difficult strike. They up the power level to 230 and it has a timer. You'll need a team to do this and there is no match making. Once you're ready there are plenty of people in the clan who will do it with you.
5) Raids can take up quite a few hours depending on the group and whether or not people have done it before. First raid we completed took around 14 hours over three days to finish, but we were figuring out how everything worked. Last week we did 75% of the raid in just under 4 hours. So we're getting faster. By the time you're at 270 and can join, we may have our time down to 2.5 - 3 hours.
Edit: Mid beat me to the finish line.

What everyone said is right. To get the best of both worlds. I would run public events over and over until you hit about 250....Then turn in your tokens...Will probably get you up to around 260/265.KidDoc said:

don't save tokens, use them now. they will drop at a higher power level until you hit 260. once you hit 260, start saving them again until you hit 300.
If you get really stuck, grind out milestones to get a powerful engram or do heroic public events to get a chance at an exotic. If you're lucky that engram/exotic will drop as an item that'll bump up your overall level by at least one. This will cause all the other blues and purples to drop one level higher than they were before (it's 5 below your overall light level I believe).
Also try to avoid accepting the Mida Mini Tool (EDZ Legendary) & Mida Multi Tool (EDZ Exotic), Drang (Nessus Legendary) & Sturm (Nessus Exotic), as well as the Rat King (Titan Exotic) because those will drop a bit above your level. Just hit circle when they offer it to you and it'll just leave a quest marker and they'll continuously offer it to you whenever you talk to them. The idea is that, theoretically, the legendaries can be offered at 300 and the exotics at 305 if you wait until you are in the 295 range. The other option is to say screw all this and accept them and instead just hold off grabbing them when you are running your second and third characters.

Boss phases are great with cold heart if you don't have a linear fusion rifle.

Coldheart is the only one for now. Bungie has said they will probably add more. As far as light, you can infuse it with auto rifles. The game engine treats it as a very fast firing auto rifle.
