I think the patch yesterday or the day before was supposed to address that. Not sure what if any improvements came from it.

That's some funny sh-t right there. So now they are calling SimCity an MMO that's not finished and will never be finished.

What they really did was take away features from SimCity 4 that they will sell to us later. And the features that did make it from that game don't even work correctly.

To be fair - they always considered it an MMO ever since they stipulated the always online requirement. And I take the 'will never be finished' along the same lines as every other MMO with updates and additions to the original. Hopefully they won't charge the price of a new game for the option to have larger cities.

They screwed the pooch on the release (Like Diablo 3 and WOW did), but I'm giving them a chance to right the ship before I abandon it.

In response to the blog: blah blah blah excuses to avoid saying EA doesn't want you to be able to play without the server.

There should be a singleplayer offline mode. End of story. People are going to have that hacked out within the week anyway.

I was really looking forward to this game but after reading this and the EA forums, there is no chance I'm spending money on this POS game. They f'ed this game up. I'm sure they had a great "vision" but the execution appears to have been terrible and they probably figured that out halfway through development but decided to go forward with it anyway.

So much that they are saying 'were going to fix it with the next patch' should have been BASIC things to have in the game from day 1 of development. Not beta, not ___, day 1 of development. How do you not have basic optimal pathfinding algorithms in the game? I learned how to design a program to do that and I'm not even a compsci person. We had to do that in network hydraulics. Jebus.

Back to Diablo 3 and Battlefield 3 until they patch this up. Will try again in a few weeks (maybe). I wonder what free games they are going to allow us to pick from on the 18th.

When a company starts trying to control the information about a game you're allowed to see, you know they've lost all control. It's the most futile strategy to resort to.

Things happen that I just don't understand. I decided to place a gambling house on the busy road at my highway connection. The place was absolutely packed. Up to 20,000 profit, so then I placed a sci if casino. It made a little money while the gambling house made about 35,000 and I placed a gambling hq just off that one casino. I have a train station that was bringing 2500 riders per day. Then bam next day the sci go casino is way in the red. I close it, and basically now I just run the original gambling house...which makes like $1000 per day and always has 0 low wealth customers somehow.

Wow, this is like a bad trainwreck that keeps getting bigger and bigger everyday.

Now there are some reports that there is a single line of code that causes the game to kick you off after 20 minutes without connecting to the server. Here is the apparent code.

I know nothing about programming (apparently this is Javascript) so who knows how true this is, but this is allegedly found by hackers pouring over the game code. Here is a link to the area of code that this comes from:

Maybe this is BS, but at this point, I'll believe anything about this disaster.

@JJ - the casinos are broken. Maxis has acknowledged and is working on them (same old story).

That game has given me a lot of enjoyment, particularly with all the modding players have done.

At some point the company lost control of that game. Hopefully the same thing will happen here. There are a lot of smart people out there that will screw with what this company has done to make a playable game.

I went ahead and created a new region on the Oceanic-2 server. It's called TexAgs12. I set it to private, let me know if you want an invite.

Traffic is just dumb in this game without building a city to accomodate the poor coding of glassbox.

Everything in my city was humming along nicely, my oil and ore exports were helping me rake in some pretty decent money. At around 72k population, all hell broke loose. My export trucks move about 2 car lengths per game day sitting on the highway to come into my city. Fire and Police don't make it to burning buildings.

The traffic patch will help some of this, I hope, but we really need multiple exits from our city. It will ALWAYS be a bottleneck.

So after that garbage PR campaign where the developers and writers talked on twitter about how "cool" it was that customers were pouring through their code, and about how modding was the heart of what SimCity was about...now the modder who figured out how to disable online play is being called a "hacker" and all of his threads are being deleted from EA's forums.

What an absolute joke.

The single entrance to the city is the most idiotic thing in the entire game.

I had a city fail because the coal trucks couldn't deliver coal to my power plant.

Whats the highest population anyone has achieved without gimmicky builds? My best is about 160k

Has anyone been able to get a great site completed yet? I can't seem to get any resources sent to the international airport I'm trying to build.

Seems like the more I play this game, the more frustrated I get and more problems I find... hopefully future patches will help solve most of the issues

I only have a three city private region at the moment

EA's stock is falling.

I hit 200k at one point, but now I'm down to 150k with no clue how it happened as I haven't changed anything. Another odd thing is that my TV output has dropped significantly. I was able to make 3 million per month profit previously, now I'm only at 700k to 1 million. It's weird.

Is dead space 3 any good at all? Never played the series before.

I got up to 230-250k on the original aggieland on NAE2 I think with a horseshoe shaped city. Unfortunately my trade stuff ended up on the opposite corner from the region highway which ended up being a problem.

I think Dead Space 3 is actually multiplayer-centered. They have lots of puzzles that require 2 people to do 2 different things in order to solve them. Might be cool.

Note hat all games listed are for the Standard Edition only. Therefore my dream of buying SimCity and getting the Premium Edition of BF3 is shot.
