The two Saturday games have been set, so the cowboys will play on Sunday. Still don't know what time. I'm guessing noon still.

The NFL know the cowboys are a big audience draw so if they were smart they have them as the 4:25 EST game

Eventually you've gotta beat some of these teams to make the SB. I'd rather they they get some home playoff games even if it means catching one of these in the first game

The sweet spot is the #2 seed IMO. You get a home game against a .500 team, then likely Minnesota at home in the divisional round (Kirk Cousins scares literally nobody in that situation) and only have to face one of Philly/SF to make the SB.

As the #1 or #5 seed, you likely end up playing both SF and Philly (because Philly probably beats TB and SF likely beats both GB and Minnesota). Even playing one less game and getting both at home, SF/Philly are so much better than anyone else you'd play that that's likely a tougher road. GB/Detroit/Seattle then Minnesota at home is a cakewalk to the title game by NFL playoff standards.

They don't want the possibility of Dallas kicking off with nothing to play for. Dallas/Philly games will both kickoff at the same time, or Dallas will be in the early window and Philly in the late window.

Vikings are a different team home vs road, our game against them notwithstanding. And I just have a hard time seeing a team with Daniel Jones at QB winning a road playoff game.

I feel confident the Packers - Lions game will be in the late slot. Packers are also a big draw. That game has a lot of meaning. And it will allow it to be played at the same time as the Seahawks home game, which also matters for the last wildcard.

Cowboys will play at the same time as Philly, so I don't see them putting both of those games in the 3:00 window. Just my opinion and guess.

So, to be clear, a #2 seed means Dallas wins the division and plays at home?
Anything else and it's a road game?

Eagles open as 13.5 point favorites. Vegas must think Hurts is playing.

#2: home game
#5: road game
#1: no game

Giants have nothing to play for. They can't improve their seeding. Many thinking they rest a lot of folks against Philly. This is my guess with the spread.
BMX Bandit
How long do you want to ignore this user?
spread was -7.5 in NY. -12 or -13 makes sense even without the outside factors of giants not having anything to play for. still, seems like a lot and I'd go giants at that number

Close out GB and/or Jacksonville games and this is not an issue....

So, all division champs play at home. All wildcards play away.

Cowboys and eagles games are both at 4:25 EST.

What's interesting is the lions packers game is the night game

This is ending up like a worse case scenario for the Cowboys. Play full strength, have injuries, wear the players out and still end up as the 5th seed playing at a Tampa team that will rest all of their players.

Prob better to rest all the players and get ready to play Tampa.

I would be shocked in the giants play their starters more than 1 quarter. Hurts finished the Bears game, threw fine. I am sure he could have easily played against the Saints. It might end up being good for them to get some rust off playing the giants then having two weeks rest.

I hope dallas plays the starters for all four quarters. This team hasn't played a complete game since Minnesota and this is their last chance to get their **** together before the playoffs.

Giants just played at Minnesota week 16, and the Vikings only won with a last-second 61-yard FG. I could definitely see NYG winning the rematch, especially with all the OL injuries the Vikings have had recently.

Philly, Dallas and San Fran all need to play at the same time. And since SF is playing at home on the west coast they needed to make it the late start for all.

Yeah I guess so. But they didn't use that logic for packers Detroit and Seattle. Oh well, here's to hoping for the 1 or 2 seed

Don't want to get my hopes up yet but everything I've seen/ read indicates the Giants plan on playing to win Sunday (playing their starters). If that's the case, I believe that's a coin flip game at this point.

Should we really celebrate getting the #2 seed if it's likely a date with Aaron Rodgers?

You're right… let's just be miserable human beings. We suck. Hang it up. Go home.

In what world is the 5 seed, the first of 3 possible road games being against Brady, better than having home field advantage and an outside shot at a first round bye?

It's the frickin playoffs. Every team we face is going to be good. Dallas is a really good team too.

Idk, you have to beat SOMEBODY to get to the SuperBowl, either we're good enough or we aren't.

With this years team, I'm more worried about which Cowboys team will show up than I am about who our opponent is any given week…

despite the history with Rogers, yes, getting #2 seed should be celebrated.

This 100%. If the cowboys that beat the Vikings like red headed step children show up then we can and will beat anyone.

If the cowboys who blew it against Ajax show up it's yet another one and done season

I've thought about this over and over again....and every single seed has its advantages/disadvantages.
I think the #2 seed is ultimately the best path for this years Cowboys team.

#1 Seed Advantages:
-Avoid 1st round
-Guaranteed Home Game

#1 Seed Disadvantages:
-Season will be a failure (2007, 16, 21) if team does not win post season game
-Will most likely face Tom Brady/Bucs, or 13 win Eagles in first game.

#5 Seed Advantages:
-Will get the weakest playoff opponent in 1st round
-Chance to end 30 year post season road losing streak
-Chance to finally beat Tom Brady

#5 Seed Disadvantages:
-Will have to play the GOAT on the road
-Team already got their ass kicked by this same Bucs team to open season
-Will most likely have to play the #1 seed on the road in the 2nd round
-Small chance of hosting a home playoff game

#2 Seed Advantages:
-Guaranteed Home playoff game in 1st round
-Guaranteed home playoff game in Divisional Round
-Will most likely avoid Philadelphia/San Francisco until Conference Championship game
-In line to have a home game in the Conference Championship if #1 seed gets upset

#2 Seed Disadvantages:
-Will most likely have to play Cowboy Killer Aaron Rodgers in the 1st round

Nice breakdown Kellso!

I just know it's been a LONG time since we've seen a Cowboys team really bring their A game to a playoff game. Only notable game in recent years was when they played a pretty good/solid game against Seattle in 2018. We were an above average team that year and still managed to get a playoff win.

But we have a really good football team this year. We've seen the offense and defense dominate multiple teams this season, they just haven't always done it at the same time. We are 25+ years overdue for a team that plays their best ball in January!!!

Aaron Rodgers is a scary matchup for anyone in the playoffs, it's not just the Cowboys. Good teams/QBs do well in the playoffs.

Byes and homefield advantages are more important than matchups. "That's a good matchup for [Team X]" rarely pans out how people think it will.

Cowboys waived James Washington. Makes sense with the TY signing, but the other WRs need to step up BIG TIME. Noah Brown has disappeared since Dak came back.

Washington never had a chance here because of the injury, but according to the people in the know it was pretty obvious right away that he just wasn't a fit. This is not a surprising move at all.

I will disagree about Noah Brown though. He's had a very solid year as a #3 WR and he's more than met expectations IMO. His best recent game was at Jax... right up to the point where he cost us the game on a terrible deflection right off his hands!

Looks like the Skins are starting Howell for the last game. Time to re-watch the Orange Bowl to do some scouting and re-live the conclusion to Jimbo's best year (which quickly gave rise to his worst 2 years).
