I know I promised you no wars in the Middle East and lower food and gas prices but hey, I'm building a nice ballroom and a helipad and an arch and gold plated some statues and paid quite a lot for most of the reflecting pond to get reworked twice and I've almost managed to slap my name on the Kennedy center and we renamed AI and a lake and the Gulf and maybe the Strait of Hormuz and I've got a new hot assistant so what are you folks complaining about after all this stuff I've done for you?

I think the Democrats will regain control of the House, but Republicans will retain control of the Senate with 51 seats. I think Republicans will hold the Senate seats in Texas, Alaska, and Maine, and lose the Senate seats in North Carolina and Ohio.

Interesting to see Halperin flip back from some of his more radical Democrat guesses based on this conversation.

ETA, nsfw language of course, but funny, from another long time democrat voter (as he says), DSA seems to have lost him.

Always entertaining, regardless of politics.

They had dumped $32 Million to date into the state only to watch Whatley fall further behind Roy Cooper.

They are redirecting to Kansas where Roger Marshall is in danger of losing the seat to Adam Hamilton.

Not just KS (also OH and elsewhere more heavily) but Adam Hamilton (UMC-DSA-Dem) has a bit of a fresh scandal so it makes sense to shore that up.

Not that Democrat voters care about kids, of course (see: Becerra in CA). The DSA will continue to get outspent and late-breaking/deciding voters favor the GOP imho, where it matters.

It is mindboggling to sum up how destructive, damaging, and insanely stupid the fiscal and economic policies of Trump and the GOP have been.

And then add in the tens of billions of dollars of corruption and dishonesty and lying they have done, plus their support of Trump's and Todd Blanche's disgusting Epstein coverup and secret deal with pedophile-predator Ghislaine Maxwell.

Plus their tariffs and trade wars, plus the selling of pardons to criminals, plus the dismal job numbers and the high prices of gasoline and diesel.

Yet 95%+ of the Rs who are running for office have been doubling down on everything they and the felon in the White House have done.

What the Republicans ought to be doing is holding town halls in every county and town and city across America for the sole purpose of standing up on a stage and publicly apologizing to every American. That would be a better message than lying to voters' faces and telling voters the emperor's new clothes are awesome.

In the next 31 days, Americans will vote. It is going to be the most interesting U.S. election since 1932.

You have this messaging on cut and paste at this point.

So, your thesis is that hardcore socialism/communism and open borders policy by the Democrats is not insanely stupid fiscally and economically?

Because that's what you are advocating for.

they have no choice, this is the consequence of selling the party out to trump. he controls a massive war chest, and his endorsement or indictment can make or break most candidates' campaigns, diminished though that influence is compared to his peak.

tying yourself to trump as a republican is a net negative now, but publicly breaking from him is near suicide.

The news about Hamilton came out this past spring and didn't seem to move the needle much for anyone.

In Nov 2005 two teen boys reported being abused by an adult counselor at the church's sleepaway camp. Hamilton had two people who were trained in youth abuse protection conduct an internal investigation which was inconclusive in part because the victims didn't actually know who abused them. It was dark and they said they didn't see the person's face.

During this time the camp director gave a camp wide sermon that discouraged campers from "slandering" the name of someone with unsubstantiated rumors essentially in an effort to keep the victims from discussing the fact that someone came into their room and touched them (he did not mention the victims directly).

The camp director was fired and replaced the next year by someone who seemed to be far more competent. In 2006 Scott Moore assaulted another teen and the Church Camp fired him and reported him to the Linn County Sheriff's Office. The Sherriff's office declined to bring charges because they victims couldn't identify Moore as the person who abused them.

I'm a former teacher, assistant Scoutmaster, summer camp counselor, and probably a couple hundred hours of Youth Protection Training. I've also had to report abuse of kids to the proper authorities while a teacher. Even with all of my training, I am not qualified to conduct an internal investigation of something like this and I suspect the church employees were not either.

In general, Youth Protection Training is a series of steps, actions, and preventative measures to take in order to protect kids. Things like 2-1 ratios, how to spot abuse, etc. The second a child reports abuse though, it has to be out of your hands. You have to hand it over to the authorities and people who investigate this stuff full time. Lots of child abuse cases have been ruined because a teacher or well meaning adult tried to do their own investigation or interview the victim without proper training or documentation.

When a student would report something to me, I would sit down immediately after and write out a statement with everything that happened in that moment. Date, time, who was was with me, what the student reported, who I passed the info onto, etc. I still have a folder with all of those "incident reports" in case something is ever needed in the future

This was absolutely a failure in how it was handled by all the adults involved.

Trafalgar polling **** the bed last midterms in 2022. Trafalgar had the republicans up 8 points in Washington state or something crazy like that.

Mr. Trafalgar had to go on fox news / news max and explain himself.

probably not great for Marshall that one of the strongest R-friendly house effect pollsters has him down in a state trump won by 16 points two years ago

No, it's a sign that ranked choice voting, being manipulated by a candidate running with the same name as the R front runner, represents a risk that needs to be addressed.

Second, this is a decidedly new approach to the midterms in an attempt to rock the history of the incumbent party takes it in the shorts in the midterms.

Reading it in the context of how it was done in the passed is the definition of myopathy.

Yeah. They (and most everyone else) missed KS last time they had a senate race as well, RCP avg had Roberts +1.2 and he won by nearly 11. It's a tough race to poll for whatever reason.

Another thing that has GOP campaign professionals concerned is:

-- There are almost zero good objective reasons for Independent voters or the Reagan - Bush - McCain moderate Republican faction of voters in the GOP base to vote for Rs who will go to Congress and continue bowing to Trump and allowing this Administration's madness to continue unchecked.

-- Conversely, there are a lot of very good, objective reasons to vote for Dems to gain control of both sides of Congress. The biggest one is it will create D.C. gridlock and put some brakes on this President and his Administration's rampant corruption and their reckless destruction of our economy.

You're missing widespread fear of Men competing in women's sports. There's been a 200% increase in testicular injuries occurring during Women's sporting events since the year 2008. Very serious stuff.

Only 25% of registered voters in Nebraska are Democrats.

Yet the Rs are worried Republican incumbent Pete Ricketts may lose the Senate race there to an Independent.

Just another example of how badly Trump and the Rs have damaged farmers, ranchers, and rural economies.

There is an independent there who came within single digits in 2024 and who the Dems are supporting.

The "independent" promises not to caucus with either party. Everyone knows how that works out.

Trump holding a rally in a state is not an indicator the Dems are headed to victory not matter how much you wish it so.

"Rampant corruption and their reckless destruction of our economy"

That's some serious projection and, in reality, an apt description of the Biden administration.

Address the issues at hand. If you don't think Trump is corrupt, address that. STFU about Biden as it is just a dodge.

Trump is not corrupt.

There. Either prove he is or STFU about it. Fair?
