No it won't.

By and large people in this country don't have the stomach to turn a weapon on another person and kill them unless they are in imminent physical danger from that person.

For sure there will be a lot of talk and bloviating from behind a keyboard, but the conservative to start killing Democrats or Liberals will end up dead at the hands of the government or be jailed for the rest of their life if they are lucky.

partially true, but the ukraine war is secondary to the iran war/SoH closure among top causes for current high diesel prices. can't really blame trump for wanting to downplay that reality and blame ukraine, it's not in his nature to assume accountability for his ****ups.

It is one of the few correct actions this Administration has taken. But doing a few good actions does not erase nor mitigate the current Republican Party's dismal record of incompetence, failure, criminal corruption, dishonesty, tariffs, and economic damage.

This.

The reality is that the military and police and FBI will be used against us. Now, with all of our firepower and ammo, we would fight back hard, but it would not be as easy as FAFO, even if I wish it was the case. Missiles and bombs are more effective than guns.

You kids think if you impeached, convicted and removed Trump, assassinated Vance before he could get the vacancy filled (requiring an assumingly complicity congress of majority D House and Senate) in order to usher in Hakeem Jeffries is going to result in folks just shrugging their shoulders?

That's... an amazing and extremely dangerous conclusion to reach.

I would STRONGLY advise not to test this theory.

I will gladly take up weapons against folks who supported or even allowed for such tyranny.

Here is the thing that baffles me about this administration, if they just focused on affordability and domestic projects to make the country better, the midterms would have been a no-brainer and they would have carried it easily. The AI boom and monies being invested around the country would have been reminiscent of what Clinton had when he was in office; budget surpluses, lots of investment in the economy and an overall happy country. He may not have gotten the accolades he craves when he was alive, but I think the general sentiment when remembering his second term would have been positive.

Instead Trump and with enabling of the Republican party have done everything to countermand affordability and drive up prices. No one has counseled Trump for what actually makes sense to get this problem under control and keep inflation at bay. He broke and smashed promises for no foreign wars, drove inflation through the roof, increased the cost of life in the country (name your poison), and put people in charge that made a general mess of things in the country. These were all his direct actions as well, not something that he didn't have control over.

This will be remembered as one of the least effective and problematic administrations in American history, period end of story and guess what ….he has two more years left. I have faith the American populace will systemically reject him and the Republicans this next election cycle. They certainly earned it.

Ehh I think he had two options, start the Iran war before midterms and sacrifice the midterms or start it after the midterms and sacrifice the 2028 Presidential election, he picked the midterms.

Before the Iran war, gas prices were at 2.15 (for me) and inflation was dropping, Rs would have won the midterms easily.

He has a little over a year to get that back on track (gas and inflation) and I think he does

I think you'd find that there would be a remarkably few others that would follow. Martial law would get placed upon us, similar to covid, but treated much more harshly. We found out in 2020 that well over 2/3rd of the country would gladly do what the government ordered them to do, some out of fear, some out following rules, some out of agreement.

I've often said that the only way you'd ever see individuals fire upon armies, police, or any other militia would be because it was a foreign-led effort. Too many people today would just shrug their shoulders and go back to eating their cheese puffs and wings on the couch, content as long as their welfare and benefits come in. Speaking of welfare and the poor, who do you think the leftists plan to seize and take assets away from when they gain control like Lenin and Mao did? Us, the ones with the assets and income. History shows it takes about 1/3 often less to result in "regime change ",

Disenfranchising over half the population with a violent coup is not in any way shape or form comparable to paying people to stay home and watch TV. HTH.

Your analysis and assessment is 100% correct.

The reason President Trump and his loyalist faction of appointees in this 2.0 Administration went other directions and didn't do the things you listed? Partly because of bad ideology, and also because it isn't their nature. Whenever Trump tells the fable of the scorpion and the frog, he is making a confession. As most Americans know, Trump has never been honest. He's always been what he is: a con man opportunist & grifter, an NPD narcissist, and a white-collar criminal. He can't change himself nor does he want to.

Trump's first administration, WH staff, and cabinet had a lot of experienced establishment Rs from the Reagan - Bush eras of the GOP. They knew how government operates, and they kept Trump mostly in check.

This 2nd term, Trump and his inner circle chose to fill most of those positions with like-minded con men, grifters, liars, and corrupt far-right idealogues.

As you noted, having a subservient, mostly-spineless Republican-controlled Senate and House as full-partners in year 1 & 2 made it easy to do all the damage they've done.

He's basically been dooming for months about polls/data this cycle, but reserves that it will still be better for GOP vs. 2022 because back then there was no early vote infrastructure. She's been cautiously optimistic by comparison but says she needs another week or two to really use the rural white voter data she is waiting on to model further.

He's been angry because a lot of republicans online anyway have put him on blast this cycle, whereas she is basically her usual self just content to look/sift through data. The shift to early voting in places like PA for the GOP (credit scott pressler) is quite real in the past 4 years, but it is uneven and less significant in rural demographics imho.

These are also, fwiw, the folks who don't poll well (are undersampled in the public/lazy 'likely voter' polls of 800-1200 voters often). Baris should be well aware of that, but seems to be of the opinion they won't turnout this year.

Been hearing more and more about not just Rs (and really regular Americans) are simply not "pollable".

Used to be people would push Miss Betty into a ditch in order to join a taste test, focus group, Nielsen rating, political poll.

Now they scoff at Miss Betty answering a spam call or attending a political "town hall" (not a rally).

So it's not a statistical question about how much you under polled R vs D. It's that you simply have little or no data on one side and a heavy biased on the other.

The chick has the better approach is seems. Analyze and parse the real data.

Thanks for sharing. I appreciate you making the rounds on the threads and adding in relevant information with a bit of perspective.

A Democrat hasn't won any Texas statewide election since 1994, a Texas gubernatorial election since 1990, a Texas US Senate election since 1988, and Texas electoral votes in a Presidential election since 1976. I hope Ken Paxton, Greg Abbott, Dan Parick, Mayes Middleton, Don Huffines, Dawn Buckingham, Nathan Sheets, and Bo French sweep the statewide elections to keep Texas red.

I joined the Austin Young Republicans' organized protest against Hasan Piker and the University Democrats at the UT Campus. One UT student asked me why I am voting for Ken Paxton and tried to convince me of his corruption. I explained that I am a conservative, how Ken Paxton aligns with me political views, and how James Talarico is a radical liberal. She asked me about why Adam Hoffamn was released after 29 days. I explained that it was a hung jury, and the kid didn't want to testify. I articulated how Paxton Ken Paxton's office has secured major prison sentences in several child and human trafficking prosecutions. She asked me how Paxton can buy 15 homes on an attorney general salary, and I said he invested in these properties over decades. I also said he was not found guilty of corruption.

Rust belt looking solid. I had been nervous about IA but it's looking better now, same for OH with EV numbers coming in low in Dem fortress cities/open air prisons. DSA Flanagan somehow dropping further to +1.6 in MN is positive too.

Harvard Harris continues to show even generic mid-term ballot nationally.
Quote:

Voters aligned with Republican policies on taxes and spending as well. When asked if voters preferred decreasing, increasing, or keeping taxes the same, 58 percent said decreasing, compared to 15 percent increasing and 27 percent keeping them the same.

On government spending, 64 percent favored decreasing, 16 percent increasing, and 19 percent keeping it the same.

56 percent of voters also want to see interest rate cuts, with 18 percent favoring increasing rates and 26 percent keeping them at the same levels.

Finally, President Trump's plan to issue $5,000 to every American adult if Republicans maintain both the House and Senate won 57 percent approval overall, although 69 percent of voters said they see the proposed measure as primarily intended to encourage voters to support Republicans.

I think that was conducted before the IRGC letter endorsing the Democrats though.

Schumer, who has previously incited violence against SCOTUS justices, now claims without evidence the GOP will somehow steal the election.

Sounds like DSA-Dem panic, to my ears.

ETA, another 60 million into TX by Thune (to $130+ million) and nothing from Schumer for the Low-T superpac he set up. It's over. Also over in IA and OH based on this;

MI also looks really good based on that. Still nothing solid on NC, and GA is over, functionally tbf.

Another area the Rs are underwater in the current polls is the rule of law and the GOP's decision to ignore or in some cases, strongly support rampant corruption.

For the past 18 months, members of the federal judiciary have been issuing court orders against the lawless transgressions of Trump's Administration.

Likewise, hundreds of retired judges and retired prosecutors have signed op-eds and public statements publicly warning about the ongoing corruption by Trump and his subordinates and their attempts to intentionally undermine the rule of law.

Yet the overwhelming majority of Rs in Congress have continued to support the Administration's lawlessness and corruption, or have been malfeasantly silent about it.

Will that cost Rs in the midterms?

It should, but we'll see. The elections are 5 weeks away.

Court ordered injunctions, rulings, and warnings have become multiple-times-per-week occurences as the Trump Republican Administration has broadened its attacks on American rule of law in every direction.

In today's news, there is a news report on yet another of the thousands of court decisions against this Administration:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/judge-bars-jeanine-pirro-reflecting-pool-case-trump-rcna597047

Quote:

Trump, Edelman wrote, "has criticized the decision of the Office of the United States Attorney to drop the case in the most vituperative terms; demanded that the government reinstitute the prosecution, in part because of Mr. Hearn's political activity and the identity of one of his attorneys; and publicly entertained the possibility of firing the United States Attorney as a result of the dismissal."

Hearn, Edelman wrote, "faces the unique possibility that the government will revive this case one that it has already announced to be meritless based on political pressure brought by the President of the United States upon his subordinate officers."

The government "has no right to retain the ability to compound the errors it has already made, or even to threaten to do so, at Mr. Hearn's expense," Edelman wrote.
Ironically, this judge's ruling effectively prevents Trump and Pirro from expanding upon their prior inexcusable behavior and advancing into something more serious: illegal abuse of power.

As was demonstrated in 1974-75, illegal abuses of power by Presidents are fully warranted grounds for Articles of Impeachment and removal from office.
