Welsh was very demeaning and dismissive to the student as well. Plus he explained to her why LGBTQ was needed
and his explanation didn't even fit the class that was being taught - what does a children's literature class have to do with preparing a future counselor how to deal with trans issues? - this wasn't a psych class.

I'd prefer winning a national championship in football if it meant we still had a few woke profs. We can't eliminate them all as much as we'd like to.

Are any of the future teachers actually dumb enough to do what they were hearing in that class?
1) Yep. Not many, but they are out there.
2) Do you think it is smart to cover for a lecturer that is dumber than the students that are taking her / his / shims / its class?
3) Do you think that the most important focus of a children's literature course should be how to indoctrinate kids about transgender issues through children's literature?
If a lecturer is focusing his / her / its course on a topic that is so stupid that her students should be ignoring her, why not fire the person immediately instead of lying to the press to cover for that person?

Instead of firing the professor who kicked a conservative student out of class... the @TAMU Department Head BLAMED THE STUDENT FOR "DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR"...

I took Children's Literature at A&M, the year after I was a Rudder Scholar in Normandy with Glenn Hegar. I was glad that the chemistry BS program had recently gotten rid of a few required courses (like a full year of German), so I had the free electives available to study in France.
Anyway, in Children's Lit we read Charlotte's Web, The Moves Make the Man, and I wrote my term paper on The Vovage of the Dawn Treader. It was neat getting to peruse the literary journals and come up with counterpoints for the ideological vitriol leveled against CS Lewis.
If I'd had to sit through the nonsense in this class, I probably would just ignored most of it, gotten my easy A, become friends with the lecturer, gotten on with my life, and had some good stories to tell about the whacko I had for kiddie lit.

Can we PLEASE hire a president and not some leftist ideologue this time? How about a non academic, Christian family man former student who was in the corp, grew up in rural Texas in 4H and FFA, and had a long successful career in O&G?
Welsh is a Christian, a career military man and a lifelong republican who has only been in academics since 2016 (where he spent most of his time as the dean of a reputable academic department).
This board's opinion on Welsh compared to reality is INSANE.
Yep. He's not a Trump Republican... So people hate him. But he's a good man and a great leader. Students, left and right, love and respect him. He respects staff and faculty.
Being President right now is an almost impossible job. He was doing it well.

Agreed. It's very sad that we're at a point where almost nobody is willing to take five minutes to understand a topic.

Most high ranking military types are gonna lean liberal. It's incredible what they've done to field grade officers over the past couple of decades.
Most academics are gonna lean liberall even moreso.
Need to hire a guy who built and ran a successful business before retiring or selling it off.
Exactly. I am not willing to take the risk with another military officer or academics. Avoid both.

Buster I accept that I dont know everything and that I'm not an expert on every topic. I don't think the world is going to hell because people don't think just like me. Call it a high horse if you will. I prefer to call it knowing my limits and giving respect to a man who choose to spend his life serving his country and the school I love. Accusing a state employee of bribery while in the performance of their duties sure sounds like accusing someone of a crime. I'll let the lawyers in the thread give their opinion. Just think it's best to choose words thoughtfully.
Quote:
1: money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust
ex: police officers accused of taking bribes
2: something that serves to induce or influence
Ex: offered the kid a bribe to finish his homework
