Again, it's clear many of you have never dealt with the frustrations of a meaningful leadership hierarchy.

Or maybe we have and simply disagree with your assertions.

Which would be fine, but many of the responses I'm getting is "well he should have just done this thing he has little to no power to actually do".

Again, you don't get to run Texas A&M like your household. That's just not how any of this works. I'm not defending this reality but it is reality, and we need to all live in reality.

Reality is he needed to go...and now he is gone

And the next guy will probably be worse, because we have an horrible history of hiring presidents annd almost every university president is a far more entrenched career academic than Welsh.

Fortunately for us, Welsch set the bar really lo so it should be real easy. We just need to hire someone who doesn't break the law, intimidate students and then lie about it when caught.

Do you agree that the gender unicorn is appropriate to teach 2nd graders?

Are any of the future teachers actually dumb enough to do what they were hearing in that class?

1) Yep. Not many, but they are out there.

2) Do you think it is smart to cover for a lecturer that is dumber than the students that are taking her / his / shims / its class?

3) Do you think that the most important focus of a children's literature course should be how to indoctrinate kids about transgender issues through children's literature?

If a lecturer is focusing his / her / its course on a topic that is so stupid that her students should be ignoring her, why not fire the person immediately instead of lying to the press to cover for that person?

So, do you think it is appropriate to tell future teachers that it is important to expose toddlers to transgender education before they reach puberty? Is that appropriate discussion in a child's literature class?

I believe there are options between nothing and kicking someone to the curb.

Welsh seems like a good man, and a smart man… which makes it very hard to understand how he could've been so blinded by DEI. He did himself no favors.

I'm not a fan of the "gotcha" feel of all of this, but how else was this insidious culture going to see the light of day? And make no mistake about it, we need to shine the light on just how indoctrinated the academics are and their insistence on grooming.

Welsh had his warning after the faculty zoom meeting this summer. He didn't heed that warning. He deserves what is coming to him.

He latched on the DEI and wasn't changing his stance, there was no other option

He subverted the law, encouraged staff to do the same, and then lied when he got caught. Don't care if he stormed Normandy and lead his church choir.

I would get fired for doing anything similar at my job so spare me the excuses. It's on him.

Not that any one cares but President Welsh was very popular with most of the students.

People keep saying this, but not substantiating it.

Do you have some kind of data or something?

My worry is this will affect stability at the athletic department. I think out athletic department is more important than a couple of woke professors.

You alluded to but did not specifically state the bribery of said student. Stop going to class and get the grade you currently have, as I recall

I believe that was in writing via email and not audible

What was the timing of the email, do we know? Did that happen before or after the first video dropped?

At the end of #2 online meeting, Welsh asserted DEI policy would not impact targeted student recruitment.

Not really. NIL has been going on a while and I have yet to see anything come from it except paying a coach tens of millions of dollars to go away

Well it started in 2021. Fisher screwed the pooch the first 3 years. We are at the beginning of year 2 under a coach that I think knows what he's doing. A&M has the money, and now we have a coach that knows how to create the right culture, develop players and build the organization to maximize its potential.

Welsh was very demeaning and dismissive to the student as well. Plus he explained to her why LGBTQ was needed
and his explanation didn't even fit the class that was being taught - what does a children's literature class have to do with preparing a future counselor how to deal with trans issues? - this wasn't a psych class.

I'd prefer winning a national championship in football if it meant we still had a few woke profs. We can't eliminate them all as much as we'd like to.

SB12 mandated all this crap was supposed to stop

I assume everyone was notified and timelines were given

Our laws are not optional, to my my knowledge

Quote:

bans instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity at any grade level

If you are in willful noncompliance, then you can be fired

The recording demonstrates willful noncompliance of Welsh

From Texas Tribune

Welsh fired McCoul a day later, but the move did not satisfy Harrison, or Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who did not think Welsh handled the situation properly.

He knew exact numbers of students in strictly LGBT classes and what their intentions were after graduation.

This was carefully researched and prepared. That wouldnt happen for a pointless conversation where he's disrespecting and bullying a female student. He knew that data because it was bigger than just this children's literature class being trans based

I think the State should take over the administration of A&M. Either put Abbott or Patrick in charge of the school. They'll know what to do.

I believe there are options between nothing and kicking someone to the curb.

What does that even mean.

Is being upset about teaching teachers to indoctrinate toddlers about trans issues so anti-woke that it is tiring to you? Where do you draw the line? Transgender story book reading time?

If this had been a gender studies class, no one would care. You know how I know? There are gender studies classes taught at A&M that are not focused on teaching transgender stuff to toddlers, and no one has complained.

If complaining about teaching todders transgender stuff is so "anti woke that it is getting almost as tiring as woke" for you, then I think maybe you need to consider where you draw the line.

Jimbo was a bad hire, because he was ready to retire.

But, A&M's early implementation of NIL was second to none. We understood how the rules of the game had changed, and we were good enough at the new game that even Saban called us out on it.

8&4 I try not to speak in definitive terms about the things I don't know. Arm chair quarterbacking aside…..Accusing a man of a crime ( bribery) is serious and frankly dangerous. It shouldn't be done lightly, even on Texags…the man served his country with honor and distinction. How about we let investigations run their course before dragging his name and reputation through the mud. I think a man like him has earned my respect regardless if I agree with his policies or not. General Welsh is a heck of a lot more accomplished than I am and probably you too.
