Guessing Cornyn.

You'd see some elite level goal trending and gaslighting here if that happened!

I don't see it. Paxton has been tight with him.

If Trump endorses Paxton, I bet you'll see Cornyn torpedo Trump's 2027 agenda.

If Trump endorses Paxton, Cornyn won't be around in 2027.

Has Trump EVER shown any degree of personal loyalty?

I think he's worried about losing the Senate...and the SD9 sealed the deal.

Are you seriously putting validity in the SD9 special election? An election that has zero impact since the Texas legislature won't be back in session until 2027 when the winner of the actual SD9 race in November matters?

The only people that cared about SD9 were democrats.

I'm wondering if those earlier in the thread that were crowing that Talarico was going to rake in support from moderates and independents feel the same after Talarico's recent interview in which he claimed athiests were more Christian than conservatives in Congress...

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/texas-dem-who-said-god-nonbinary-now-says-atheists-more-christ-like-than-christian-colleagues

I have my doubts that most Texans believe in a nonbinary God, and that: "These Christians in Congress, these Christian nationalists, they want a Christian nation unless it means providing health care to the sick, unless it means funding food assistance for the hungry or raising the minimum wage for the poor."

Talarico's hyperbole is going to bury him as a candidate.

The dems, as well as K2, are relying on people not paying attention to a completely irrelevant special election in which the winner has no duties or influence between now and the general election. They're hoping that a headline that a Dem won an election in a Republican district will resonate with the LIV voters. \

But I'm sorry to inform you, K2, folks on this forum are a bit more informed than the normal LIV voter; so, get used to your trial balloons continuing to be popped.

I really wish Trump would get behind Wesley Hunt. Hunt was the first rep to endorse Trump for 2024. He would be as good as Paxton without all the baggage for the general.

Republicans haven't explained anything to voters. They're horrible at controlling Congress. They've done nothing whatsoever since Trump got in the WH. They'll lose and it's because they refused to do what they were elected to do. They haven't even put judges on the bench. They suck.

IT was no Republican. The description on the poster's X account says it all:

Dadaist graffiti news. Halfway true comedy and satire for your doomscrolling by
@DashMacIntyre. I don't report the facts, I improve them.

I'm amused that K2 would use that source to attempt to bolster his argument. Not really surprised, but definitely amused.

There is a difference between trying to activate the grass roots for a non-impactful election (Trump's commentary and DeSantis's X Post), and the choice of many Republicans to not engage in a non-impactful election.

All things being equal, it would be great for the Republican grass roots to engage and vote in an election like this, but there is decades-long history of the apathy of Republicans in special elections. The overall number of votes in this run-off bears out this statement.

As far as the second X post by halfway post goes, he's an admitted satirist that was going for clicks with a fabricated post. Not sure why you included that one.

Ross Hunt's X post is a bit more nuanced. I'm inclined to agree with this poster's response to his analysis regarding "Republican" turnout:

In an extremely low turnout election that is for optics only, virtually the ONLY ones motivated to participate were those who were taking advantage of the low turnout to create a narrative. Kudos to them for that, but to insinuate that this election is any sort of indicator of a statewide shift to the left is fanciful wishful thinking.

That's a big endorsement for Ken.

Poll shows 1 point difference between the 3.

Quote:

The closely watched Republican Senate primary in Texas is too close to call, with incumbent John Cornyn, Rep. Wesley Hunt, and state Attorney General Ken Paxton within 1.5 percentage points of each other, according to a new poll exclusively obtained by The Post.
J.L. Partners found 27.0% of likely voters supported Paxton, 25.7% backed Hunt, and 25.5% would cast a ballot for Cornyn if the election were held today. Another 21.7% were unsure of whom they would support.
The survey indicates the race has tightened from two months ago, when 29% of likely primary voters said they would back Paxton while Hunt and Cornyn each hovered at around 24% support.

Quote:

The contest would likely shift in Hunt's favor if either Cornyn or Paxton drops out before primary day, J.L. Partners found.
In head-to-head matchups, Hunt is in front of Paxton, 44% to 34%, and he leads Cornyn, 44% to 33%.
If Hunt abandons his run, Paxton would hold a narrow lead over Cornyn, 41% to 40%.

So Ken Paxton is a buffoon and John Cornyn is a door stop.

Is Hunt really a viable candidate?
