I think Paxton will win but I wouldn't get too cocky. The fact that this race is competitive doesn't bode well for the GOP's chances across the country. The GOP will have to spend here instead of in more important races that are historically competitive, like Maine.

I'll never understand why Cornyn is a RINO but I do think he would clean Talarico's clock, especially with independents.

Should be interesting.

No...

This race is a microcosm race if Paxton wins in the primary.

A Republican with a lot of baggage vs a milquetoast Dem candidate that suburban white women might be willing to vote for.

It is NOT anything more than that.

I WILL agree that the Republicans will have to spend more if Paxton is the candidate than if Cornyn was the candidate, though.

Again: the fact that this is competitive does not bode well for the GOP bc they will have to spend more on this race.

I don't like Paxton at all. And I will sit out the general election rather than voting between the two.

Nevertheless, the GOP will need RINOs in Maine & Alaska to hold onto their majority. Spending more in deep red Texas makes that less likely. Seems like a silly risk to take.

This lowers the vote total that Talarico needs to win.

If your goal is to have a Democrat Senator for 6 years, you're doing the right thing to advance that.

Then the GOP shouldn't nominate someone with so much baggage. My vote is earned; I owe the GOP nothing.

The voters have spoken and will speak again tomorrow nobody is just put out there to be the nominee. They have to run and be elected.

Yes. I'm aware how primaries work. The GOP/its voters nominated him and I'm not sure why that obliges me to vote for him. He's unethical and a serial philanderer. Next time put someone up who wasn't impeached by a good share of GOP Texas republicans

lol. Impeached before any evidence was presented. Went like this
Impeach so he gives up
He doesn't give up
RINOs forced to show they have zero, nadda, nothing
Lawfare failed bigtime
RINOs pissed they were exposed as frauds

Yet, some vote for the frauds and say they won't vote for the man that exposed them.

Feel free to give more to the Lincoln Project.

Cornyn sponsored the
The Bipartisan Border Solutions Act: Rewarding President Biden for His Border Crisis

He led negotiations for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act
This Gun-Control Package Says What?

He was also one of 18 Republican votes for the 12/22 $1.7trillion Porkulus Bill

Here is the Rule 44 Censure against him:

He is simply not a reliable conservative vote.

Seems silly to not vote. I've voted for sooo many bad Republican candidates in the general over the years. It's better than any Democrat. It doesn't matter who wins tomorrow. I will be voting for him.

Talarico is a radical leftist and anti-Christian. People see through that.

And he's not going to get a lot of black votes either. They will skip the box or not go. They remember what he did to Jazzy Crockett. Plus, they don't like gay white males (see Mayor Pete).

That's fine. But, if Talarico wins, don't complain since you helped him do it...

No. Actually it's not my fault. I didn't nominate him. The GOP did. Blaming voters for bad candidates is a recipe for disaster.

Actually, no, the GOP had nothing to do with him. He announced he was running against Cornyn. If he wins the nomination , it will be because a majority of people decided that they thought he would do a better job as senator. You're right, you don't owe anyone your vote, but if the democrat wins, you have no room to sit there and b*tch, military or not.

Paxton probably is a dewsh. So what? Pretty sure my heart surgeon is a dewsh too. He was also the best in the business, so I was happy to have him help me when I needed life saving surgery due to an issue I was born with.

The sooner some of you realize that your vote isn't a personal endorsement, but rather a way to accomplish a goal, the better.

You should've been a Massie campaign advisor because he went down in flames like Cornyn will because neither could read a room and do what the constituency voted them in to do

Yeah, if I had just learned Tillis favors Cornyn and still hadn't voted that alone would drive me to support Paxton.

All but 1 poll in May has Paxton ahead (and that was prior to Trump's endorsement I think).

Very nicely put. Paxton has done quite a bit as Texas AG, on the good side mind you, but that don't cut any mustard with some. Send the charlatan Cornyn home. . .TODAY!

Tantrum Tillis can only snark. So what? What in the world has the senate done for Trump's requests/priorities all year? Supposedly the Paxton endorsement was a threat/promise Trump gave Thune about nuking the filibuster. If true, once Trump made that threat he needed to follow through, imho.

Cruz is out there claiming it's the end of the world in the senate this year (he's not doing himself/Texas any favors, fwiw), but I just don't really care. The ballroom will get built anyway, and they will have to pass something via reconciliation.
Quote:

Senate sources say there's a group of four GOP senators whom Trump has alienated Sens. Thom Tillis (N.C.), Bill Cassidy (La.), John Cornyn (Texas), and Rand Paul (Ky.) who could make it tougher to get things passed through the Senate the rest of this year.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said it became clear after last week's fiery meeting with Blanche that the administration could have a tough time moving its agenda through Congress for the rest of this year because of Trump's strained relationships with Tillis, Cassidy, Cornyn and Paul.

"We have a 53-47 majority, if you lose four senators, you're below 50 and you can't get anything done," he said on his podcast, "Verdict with Ted Cruz."

Rand should realize he could be Massied in 2028 if he doesn't get his crap together. Nothing will save Murk next time anyway, and Tillis-Cassidy-Cornyn are on their way out the door.
Quote:

"The administration is creating issues everywhere by pissing off these senators, it's really a bad strategy," said a senior GOP aide.

Senate Republicans feel like they've been under attack from Trump and the White House and are fed up with what they view as a lack of communication from the executive branch and, all to often, a lack of respect, say GOP Senate sources familiar with the dynamics within the GOP conference.

It's amazing. Republicans always have trouble moving a Republican agenda through the Senate, no matter the numbers. Republicans don't actually want to move Trump's agenda through the Senate. They aren't even attempting to care about it. **** Tillis and company.
