Yes, that is what I think. I believe Paxton has no shot now. His divorce news saga will kill financial donations and his shot not just in the primary but also the general.

It was a development that was as expected as it was laden with potential political opportunity for Cornyn, who is running behind his opponent even in a survey commissioned by the McConnell and John Thune-tied PAC, Senate Leadership Fund (SLF). Paxton went through a messy impeachment fight in 2023; he survived, but in documents published as part of the process, Uber records showing him traveling to the residence of an affair partner were made public.

Make no mistake: this is going to get ugly. Even if Cornyn himself doesn't jump into the gutter, the groups tied to him and his allies happily will, as they try to use Paxton's long history of personal and political scandals to weigh down and ultimately defeat the attorney general and would-be senator. The Texas Senate race is one (though not the easiest) of the avenues for Democrats to of the Senate next year, a crucial step in halting the president's legislative agenda.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) was the first dive in on Thursday. Like SLF, the NRSC is closely tied to GOP leadership and works to protect incumbent senators as well as back challengers to Democrats.

I stand corrected. I had expected @kenpaxtontx to return from his two week European vacation by today. Unfortunately, he’s made the choice to stay abroad and ignore his job. I was hopeful while Texans demand results, he would do the right thing and come home. My bad. https://t.co/1l74UAbkXO

Cornyn's internal polling numbers must be in the tank for him to pull this obvious of a stunt.

Unless, of course, the Dems end up only having one candidate run in their primary. Then they could vote in the Republican primary in an attempt to help Cornyn.Im Gipper said:

Do the Dems want to face Paxton in the general ? She saying this knowing it will hurt Cornyn in the primary?
Note: conservatives should not care who the Democrats would want to face. Vote for the most conservative candidate that has a chance to win. As of today, that's Paxton.
Cornyn still has life in him. I wouldn’t say this is over by any means but it seems like Paxton has a lead based on other polling too.

We will see if Cornyn can somehow manage to survive or if Paxton can unseat him.
I’d still prefer to be Paxton I think at this point. https://t.co/fGL5mmUBfF

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a key Trump ally now running for U.S. Senate, is accused of having an affair with a "Christian influencer" he met last year, according to a report from a UK-based media outlet.
The Daily Mail reported Friday that Paxton had been "caught in a shocking sex scandal" involving Tracy Duhon, a 57-year-old author and mother of seven. She's the former wife of a Louisiana-based businessman who owns the Premier Automotive dealership group.
Paxton, 62, met Duhon at the 2024 Kentucky Derby when she was still married, and the pair stayed at the home of a mutual friend during the visit, according to the Daily Mail, which cited "multiple" unnamed sources allegedly familiar with the incident.
Citing those same sources, the Daily Mail reported that Paxton and Duhon often took trips together without their spouses' knowledge, including jaunts overseas.
Two months after the Kentucky Derby, Duhon filed for divorce from her husband, according to the report.
Paxton's wife, Angela, a Republican state senator, filed for a divorce of her own in early July, stating in a tweet that she sought the breakup of their 38-year marriage on "biblical grounds."
"I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation," Angela Paxton wrote. "But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage."
The Daily Mail report is only the latest political baggage for Paxton as he takes on incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in next year's GOP primary.
The Texas House voted in 2023 to impeach Paxton over allegations of bribery and abuse of office, however the state Senate ultimately decided not to convict. Among the complaints of misconduct were accusations that Paxton had an extramarital affair with a woman he later recommended for a job with a key political donor.
