2027 Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas OL Mark Matthews commits to A&M
Mike Elko and Texas A&M continue to big game hunt on the recruiting front, and today one of the nation’s very best announced his Aggieland plans.
Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews has announced his Texas A&M commitment, choosing the Aggies over fellow finalists Miami and Georgia.
Widely regarded as the nation’s top offensive tackle, the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Under Armour All-American has been a mainstay up front for one of the nation’s premier high school programs.
Long, lean, and big-framed, Matthews looks the part before stepping foot on the field, and once he is on the gridiron, the physicality, mean streak, bend and flexibility quickly become apparent. He not only brings the physical tools, but he is also well schooled in the technical aspects and brings a high football IQ to the table.
With his commitment, he becomes the 14th pledge to join A&M’s 2027 recruiting class and joins offensive linemen Kennedy Brown, Kaeden Scott and DeMarrion Johnson in OL coach Adam Cushing's meeting room. He is also the second Florida five-star in the class, alongside IMG Academy EDGE Zyron Forstall.
