You could have a rifle on the rack in your pickup in the school parking lot, but bad kids were suspended, sent to juvie, sent to a children's home, sent to reform school, made to enlist in the army, or in a mental institution.
Now the only ones getting locked up are the kids who accidentally bring hunting ammo to school in their car, and the bad kids are "accepted" and "celebrated.
Add social media and 24 hour news cycle, and here we are.

Guards might be a deterrent - but if you're willing to kill another human, you will find a way to do it.

A lot of schools withdrew their resource officers, or had them unarmed after Black Lives Matters. My kids' elementary school has 1-2 guards at all times, they have told me that I am in better condition to handle a mass shooter than them

Teachers and administrators already know who these troublemakers are. They have been suspended, sent to ISS, possibly put in juvenile detention multiple times but the state says they have to be in school with the regular population. We need mental health lockups and intervention. Parents need to be held responsible for the behavior of their kids early on. Kids are free to do whatever they want to in most schools. When the inmates run the prison this is what you get.
