Wonder how long a trial like this might last?

The settlement he's heard about. He understands in his mind why the settlement happened and it had to happen at some point.

He doesn't know if it would affect his view and affirms he could still be impartial.

Four weeks may be optimistic but I say that not because this case is that terribly complicated but can't predict how events will unfold outside the court room which could affect the progress of the trial.

Concerns for personal and family safety. Okay with his name being eventually released hoping it is later rather than sooner.

He has a few kids of very different ages.

Has a neutral opinion of both Chauvin and Floyd.

Understands the difference between protests and riots but he thinks the property damage was bad.

Do police make community safer? Somewhat agree. Doesn't have negative opinions of police in general.

Somewhat disagrees with defunding the police. Red flag for the prosecution.

Somewhat unfavorable of BLM because of the riots so he connects them to riots. Not really sure about Blue Lives Matter as a real organization.

Prior jury service in civil PI case about 12 years ago. Found the process interesting but it was one day trial and he did deliberate..

Does warranty work on pumps and related items once it starts to warm up. Have no idea which type of pumps he is referring to there.

His wife is also employed. Dual income family.

Somewhat disagrees with police treating blacks and whites equally. Nothing in his personal experience though. Hasn't had a friend or co-worker that has experienced discrimination.

What does it have to do with this?

Another white guy down? C'mon man. This is a pattern with the Prosecutor - Defense has to accept extreme bias against Chauvin.

You think maybe Nelson sees the pattern and could get them to use a strike.

Nelson should ask everybody if they fish... obvious redneck clue.

White guy who hunts and fishes. Nelson passed because he knew the state would likely strike him.

Before the first jurors came into court Cahill said they would have an in camera discussion at the break. I wouldn't be surprised if Nelson makes a record of his objection to state's strike when they return. Batson challenge would be my guess. We'll see.

Let's come back to a possible Batson challenge by the defense. That means the state has to state a non-discriminatory reason for striking him. Wonder what that might be?

Cahill uses his strike for language on this lady but not the lady that had to have her husband help her fill out the questionnaire?!? He made the Defense use one there.

Land of 10,000 lakes. I went to high school in Duluth. Yes fishing is popular.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

How do these potential jurors not think the settlement announcement it a big deal that they saw on the news, etc. They say that they don't have anything to add, but when questioned about any "civil cases" - well, yeah, they've heard about that. Just not willing to put it out there before the "judge nudge" in that direction.

Nelson is up.

Recently married. Social worker for a county agency. Just got a puppy.

Civic duty to serve. A little bit concerned about her personal safety but normally has that as a social worker.
