"Reverse Logan", motion was implied

Okay, I was wrong. Cahill excused him for cause citing the reverse of Logan. State wanted to make a record so that's why he was talking. Nelson did not, repeat did not pass for cause nor use a peremptory.

She kept a copy of her questionnaire. Only the second one to do so.

She knows about 27 million settlement amount.

Settlement does not have any effects because she doesn't have any details. She can put it aside.

Grandmother and enjoys spending a lot of time with her family.

First impression saying she was a possibility Floyd juror? Excited to fulfill her civic duty because she has never served on a jury before. She was fearful of covid but has now been vaccinated so okay now.

If Nelson can play to her on the medical evidence, I think it will work well. Just hammer home the point with expert testimony the toxicity of the drug combination and Floyd's medical condition perimortem/prior to arrest.
There is also another consideration here. The state is really trying very hard to convince Cahill to allow one of their experts, a Dr. Vincent testify that Floyd was not resisting arrest because he was in the middle of a mental health crisis. She sounds to me like a SJW type who believes in Critical Race Theory and even went back to slavery and Jim Crowe law eras to explain away Floyd's apprehension upon his arrest. The race based stuff.

This nurse is very open to that narrative as well as she believes there is discrimination and to the level it infects the criminal justice system.

At the end of the day, will her medical background convince her that Floyd died of an OD? Or that the officers were somewhat responsible? That's where the 3rd degree murder charge as the exit ramp comes into play.

Hope that was clear enough to follow.

Yes it was. I don't really hold the opinions of many nurses in high esteem unless they are ER experienced, but she cannot ignore the medical evidence presented. And if she has worked at any hospital she is probably aware of social dysfunction and how it manifests. Not like those loonie medical students in White Coats for Black Lives, many of whom opined for mass protests despite transmissible disease concerns.

Reminds me of when I was called to U.S. District Court in Houston last year. I walked all over the place trying to find it from my parking garage. Getting called for that is a nightmare, because you can get called for up to a week. I ended up having to drive to Houston from College Station two days in a row. Didn't get picked for the jury either time, and only had to go through one voir dire.

Yes. LOL.

With juror 91 seated that brings the total to 11. One more for the full jury and then two alternates. They might be done by tomorrow, if things go well and the City doesn't do something else to blow up the proceedings.

I honestly don't know if Cahill will move the trial up if they do finish tomorrow. But right now I'm reasonably sure he will deny the motions for change of venue and continuance.

I wonder how many jurors will spend their time googling information about the case. Sure, they are warned not to do things like that, but will that actually stop them? It is said that this has become a common occurrence.

TBH, I'm not sure that I could resist the temptation myself in this day and age.

Juror 92 knows some of the witnesses so going off audio.

I kind of missed that first portion of what Nelson was saying, only that conversations between the Mayor and the City Attorney are continuing.

What else did he say?

Very family and friends oriented, in commercial insurance and loves her job.

Her reaction shocked to be a part of something of this magnitude.

I believe it's pretty common just like how juries often barter lighter sentences in exchange for guilty verdicts from wavering jury members.

The foreman has to be careful to make sure they don't ask any questions about outside evidence or barters being discussed in the jury room.

Just want to go on record to thank Aggihawg in her efforts summarizing this and posting her thoughts on the proceedings. I am not proud to say this, but I literally extended my graduate school (Auburn; '90-'96) by one year due to the OJ trial. I watched that "gavel to gavel" and got ZERO done on my dissertation. I'm really surprised nobody noticed and I did not get called out by my major professor. Amazing to think how many hours I wasted on that travesty, but it was educational and addicting AF. I would hate to think how much $$ it cost me, not to mention opportunity cost for a year delay in finishing.

LOL. I too was not working at the time and watched the OJ trial. Spent a lot of time yelling at the TV whether it was at Judge Ito, Marcia Clark or Darden. Outmaneuvered and outsmarted by the defense.

Back to juror 92. Doesn't post on social media.

Assumed the police used excessive force from what she heard. Hasn't seen the full video. But can set all of that aside and listen to what is only said in court.

Seems like a good, reasonable and open minded juror to me. No red flags yet.

On the media and discrimination question. She thinks there is more discrimination that the media covers.

Discrimination exists but not every single incident.

Favorable view of the police and strongly disagreed with defunding the police. Strong respect for police officers.

Whew! She passed the Logan test and would not see police officer testimony as more credible than any other witness just because they are cops. Stole the state attorney's thunder there. LOL.

Her late mother was a nurse.

She will apply the presumption of innocence.

State's up.

Her Bachelors is in communications. Went out of state for college but family and friends too important so she moved back to Minnesota.

She's has some friends who were treated differently, such as racial slurs, etc.

She believes people under intoxication get more angry and more disposed to violence. Has experience with someone who addicted to alcohol and that's from her observation but that different people react differently to different drugs.

Someone may not immediately comply with police commands but that does not justify use of excessive force by police.
