This whole case also touches on 1st amendment rights. When is free speech considered child abuse? It's similar to the left's other question right now 'when does hate speech=violence?'.

Mental/emotional abuse is reportable.

Based on that testimony, she is forcing this transition on the boy.

I hate these moments in time when a child is involved and politics is the driving motivator.

Leave the kid alone till he is 18 years old. At that point the kid can do what he wants.

My parents were not keen on having my foot grossly foot amputated when I was young. When I turned 18 I had it amputated. I worked with and planned for the surgery with my doctors. Parents cane along for the ride.

In some fairness to my parents they were tired of seeing me suffer through many many surgeries.

Because Abott is getting involved the judge tried to do as much as she could to give the mom her SJW desires without going so far that Abott would sick the full force of CPS on mom and then lead a statewide fight to introduce legislation regarding transitioning and also a statewide drive to get her recalled or impeached or whatever recourse the voters in her district have against her BSC ass.

The gag order is ludicrous. But the best she could do.

Maybe technically, but I don't want bureaucrats arbitrarily deciding what child abuse is or isn't on their own.

While we might all agree in this particular instance, I'm sure you can imagine a situation in our current PC/virtue signaling world where some CPS agent decides that raising a child with traditional Christian values regarding, say, homosexuality is abusive.

The point being that in the absence of clear guidance from elected officials we don't want unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats making decisions like this on their own.

The legislature has been negligent in not addressing this issue.

What does "unnecessary" mean?

I knew a girl in high school that was a freshman when I was a senior (I went to a private school and we carpooled since there was no bus). She was kind of gangly and had a very large nose. I didn't think much of it at the time, honestly. She just was who she was. Nice kid.

The following year My sister was still carpooling with her when I was a fish at A&M. I came home at the end of the school year and bumped into her. She had gotten a nose job and looked absolutely stunning.

I had never really noticed her nose specifically as a problem but she obviously had, and that one procedure changed her entire appearance as well as her life for the better. She was more confident and much happier.

This wasn't some crazy Michael Jackson, "rebuild my entire face" procedure, just a surgery to give her a normal sized nose. Essentially there was a beautiful girl hidden behind a very unfortunate nose.

I would hate to deny someone the opportunity to help themselves out in a situation like that. It certainly wasn't medically necessary; the nose worked just fine. But the positives for her were amazing.

CPS doesn't really do what they should do. The organization is very political and not bound by common sense or the law.

Friend of mine and his S-I-L had to spend $200k to fight them off because of something that happened to his grandson at birth.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say "This is still an elective cosmetic surgery so you need to be legally an adult so you can legally consent to it"
