I have never read any ASOIAF book, so this is just me spitballing, but I remember references to the Blackfyre Rebellion in either Got, or in online discussions.

I have no idea what the specifics of it are, but I know it had to do with Targ b*tards rebelling. I wonder if that has to do with what Rhaenyra started this episode, or of it's entirely unrelated...

So we find out Hugh is a grandson of King Jaehaerys, who was the first rider of Vermithor, and Talk of Thrones mentioned Queen Alysanne (Jaehaerys' wife) was the first rider of Silverwings. Since Silverwings paired with Ulf, are they hinting at Hugh and Ulf being brothers? Maybe I missed or completely forgot something in Ulf's backstory from earlier in the season

Ulf claimed to be Viserys and Daemon's illegitimate half brother (IIRC) where Hugh stated that his mother was a legitimate Targaryen, Viserys and Daemon's aunt (Viserys's father's sister).

Two scenes just blew me away:

  • the Oscar Tully smackdown was epic
  • Rhaenyra leading several dozen bass terds to their death (watching the whole time from her luxury box)

Vermithor when Rhaenyra tells him to calm down and choose a rider already…

It is unrelated to this story.

Good episode. I also thought the the last guy was on a joyride.

The other thing that confused me was Jace saying Rhaenyra would strip him of his dragon. I don't think he meant literally, but I might have missed something she said right before it. Was he just pissed that he wasn't going to be the only b-stard with a dragon anymore?

I also loved Rhaenyra's boss mode on Vermithor.
He was not saying Rhaenyra will take his dragon from him. Jace was pointing out that pretty much everyone suspects he is a bass turd, and the only leg he has to stand on to defend his legitimacy as a "trueborn" Targ is the fact that he has a dragon. If any ol' lowborn can claim a dragon now, his legitimacy (and claim to the throne as Rhaenyra's heir) could be called into question.

At least that's the way i understood it. The commonly accepted rule has always been that only trueborn targs can claim dragons

I did think that was a little odd though. I get the sudden trepidation, but he was the one who had the idea in the first place.

His original suggestion of looking for highborns with a different name would've had the exact same effect.

Also funny they start the talk all throughout Kingslanding looking for Dragon riders and club foot hears nothing. He also squashed the rumor on sea smoke having a new rider. It seems he would be the first to die next episode bc he's so bad at his job
I was wondering how all those people could leave King's Landing at the same time and no one among the council knew about it.

they view the dragons as gods or god like creatures, you can't just have ******* no name people go up and try and play with them

Maybe they can enter the transfer portal to Kings Landing and build better housing for Vhagar.

The one guy whose job it is to know about it is too busy trying to rehab the King to counterbalance the Prince Regent.

I didn't quite understand the scene between Jasper and Larys. Was Jasper trying to feed him a bad rumor on purpose? Was he actually trying to throw him a bone? It's funny because the rumor was legit.

These kinds of scheming scenes are my favorite in this universe.

My take was Jasper was trying to earn a favor from him, but Larys knew that and knew the sources would not be well received, so used the weak sources to bluff Jasper to take the rumor to Aemond which he knew he wouldn't do, so now he has the info for himself and doesn't owe Jasper any favors

Rhaenyra is desperate to hand her most valuable asset to strangers that she has no reason to trust. All those new dragon riders have to do is fly away to some island, or fly to Kingslanding and ask for double whatever Rhaenyra is paying.

Yup, pretty sure in a previous episode Ulf explicitly claimed to be the son of Baelon "the Brave" Targaryen.

I thought of it more as a "I heard it from my friend's mother's brother's cousin's friend" or a potential bad game of telephone that Larys couldn't trust the information, thus "leaving this one to the wind". Larys probably has his own network of spys that he trusts over Jasper's fourth hand info. That would probably be the right call a majority of the time, but obviously this time it was right.

Plus, the idea of the new dragon rider being someone like Adam of Hull would have been just as preposterous to the greens as it would to the majority of blacks without seeing it for themselves.

The high born Targaryens are frauds. They are not special or immuned from fire. Viserys admitted that in season one. Dragons can now claimed by "mongrels."

Pretty sure they would be insta-killed either in the sky or in the Red Keep when some rando tries to pull a power play on Aemond.

I don't think the older dragons are going to let anyone ride them except those with familial bloodlines, due to recognition. Newly hatched dragons will probably not care, though.

Edit: But your point is similar to saying the British royal family are frauds, which I suppose in 2024 they are

This. Larys wanted to withhold the info from Aemond and used the Ferris Beuhler type of list of sources to dissuade him from telling Aemond. He left the ball in his court, but Larys knew the chances were that it wouldn't get to Aemond.

Larys is on team Aegon since Aemond shunned him. Larys wants Aemond to stumble.

What's the name of the girl in the Vale? Rhaena?

Does it look like she's off to claim a dragon of her own there? Which dragon is left that hasn't been claimed?

Possibly yes, but (1) Addam has blood ties to the Hand of the Queen on Team Black, so I doubt he switches sides, and (2) Both Ulf and Hugh are all hopped up on Anti Green propaganda that Mysaria was spreading, thus leading to the revolt. Pretty sure they hate Team Green and will stay on Team Black.

But money talks I guess and you never know.

It's a feral dragon unlike the ones at Dragonstone which had riders previously

She is in need of more dragon handlers now and well... who the hell else would want it now.

Dragon to be named later. I predict Rhaenax.
