Yeah I mean it's definitely going to raise eyebrows in some ways, and I suppose it's possible that at this point no *******s have ever been legitimized. There would definitely have to be some PR spin on it. "In our time of need the gods called on these people to fill the ranks of the dragon riders showing that we're the true heirs" type stuff.
I'm just not really buying the idea that people are going to suddenly think they can rise up and do anything when like 40 of a very specific type of people (Targaryans) tried and even then all but two of them died terrible deaths in the process.
But that's also why I didn't understand why the dragon keeper people quit. If the dragons choose these people, shouldn't they be fine with it? Don't they think the dragons are borderline gods?
The dragonkeepers quitting seems silly, but maybe they were just overly prideful about only serving/assisting Targaryens for generations? I could see them being self important over it maybe, scene was still kind of silly.
I think Jace's thought process and actions make sense, especially for someone that is basically just a teenager that has gone through what he has.
He's lived his whole life with people whispering about him being illegitimate, and even more recently just saying it outloud. But in his mind he always had "Well I can ride a dragon, so that helps legitimize my claim as the heir to the crown"
Now lowborn b*stards are able to ride dragons, so in his mind he is potentially losing the main claim he has to the crown if his mother were to die. Plus, moody teenager.
