Alright, Aemon is too scrawny to be a good fighter

Noticed the princes's procession has the Targaryen dragon logo on a Hightower green field instead of the Targaryen black.

Well there's the division in both houses I was talking about, but funny that instead of the division being between Aegon and Criston, he makes him his hand instead.

Have to say though, as horrible a decision as it is to make him the Hand, it's incredibly satisfying to see it all blow up in Otto's face. After all, he's the reason he's on the throne and the cause of everything.

I'm hoping this is the beginning of the Hightowers slowly unraveling.

Though I don't think my theory was that ridiculous now, about Alicent being the one to flip. The cracks are definitely showing, and she's starting to blame herself and her sins for all the violence. (Either that, or she eventually kills herself.)

The Rhaenyra/Daemon scene was incredible. Very curious to see where this goes. But it definitely seems like there's not much left in that relationship. Thing is Daemon has nothing except her. His only purpose is defending her throne since he knows he'll never have it.

He's an awesome character, and a terrible person.

They're also doing a great job of making both Aegon and Aemond a little more sympathetic. I'm obviously still staunchly Team Black, but that's some great writing and character development for sure.

I get that a lot of people will complain about this season thus far since there's been no "action", but this show is at its best when doing great political intrigue, imo.

Criston Cole is a whiny, whimpering beetch. He is the Ross Ghellar of the realm.

He even looks like Ross with facial hair.

I can't unsee it.

Forgot to mention, I did like that we got a little bit of a glimpse into how the common folk are doing, and how they're suffering from the war. We never got much of that in GoT, but now with considerably less characters and locations to deal with, it's something they can do here.

I do wonder what that Velaryon sailor's story is though. Obviously he'll have some part to play now that he's been in two episodes.

I don't get why anyone at this point is acting like there won't be a war. I thought it was funny that Otto was upset at about the brother going to kill the Black Queen. Other than losing a member of the King's Guard, there was really no downside. You already killed her son. War is happening. Get over it.

Also, I don't get why Daemon would think he has any claim to the Iron Throne. If last King didn't name his daughter, then the heir is his son... Or his other son after that... His only real claim is through his now wife.

Wow. I didn't see it, but now I do. Thanks for ruining that... Although, your comparison is perfect. Ser Ross, the Queen F'er.

I think Otto was mostly upset that he'd lost all power and influence over Aegon, and decisions were being made without him.

I think they're still trying to operate in this space where "war is hell" and every sane person wants to avoid war because they know they toll it takes. But we as the viewer knows it's inevitable.

It misses the mark because there's no resolution that isn't war. I can't understand how the characters think there's that path. I guess the people in King's Landing think they can win over the favor of the realm? But there's still the question of the blacks who have their dragons.

I like where the story is going but felt like E2 was missing something. If it would have ended with a shot of daemon circling kings landing on the dragon, that would have been better

It is pretty amazing how captivating this show can be with very little action. Although, I disagree about the glimpse into the common folk. I don't care, at all.

I can totally get behind Aegon's grief, and I'm happy to see him kick Otto to the curb. If Otto just indulges Aegon's anger in the tiniest, he's still hand at the end of this episode.

I was not a fan of baby Aemond getting mommy time with some *****. I know he didn't mean to kill his cousin, I don't need him whining about it. Also, what is the point of showing him find the coin? Payoff in a later episode?

Rhanerya has always been a strong character, right? Flying in on her dragon and single handedly stopping some conflict in the early days, if I'm not mistaken. I didn't think she'd have been cowering in the corner, unable to get up and run, or fight, while the twin battle was going on. Whatever.

It would be fitting for Criston to head to battle, and then his horse trip in a gopher hole and he falls and breaks his neck. F that dude.

I think the only thing with the coin is that Aemond realized they were there to kill him, and the kid was just a back-up plan.

The are following along with the book fairly closely. Should have some good stuff in the upcoming episodes.

The Velaryon story line is boring and not captivating at all.

Everything else is chugging right along.

So, how many times during an episode do the rest of you pause to take a few minutes trying to untangle the Targaryen web of who is related to whom and by way of which branch of the incest tree?

Season 1 is so, so good. 2 & 3 are ok, but kind of a let down after how good 1 was.

My wife treats me like her personal ASOIAF encyclopedia whenever we watch GoT related stuff. Eleven pauses yesterday.

The longest pause was during Rhaenys/Corlys conversation to discuss how Rhaenys is related to the other Targaryens - which, to be fair, isn't immediately obvious if you've forgotten the Great Council/Viserys plot point from the opening sequence of S1.

I'm surprised no one is talking about the casual Daeron name drop.

I'm glad he's in the story but the way they casually mentioned Alicent and Viserys' THIRD SON for the first time ever was hilarious.

Aemond is so legendary that he avoided the forgotten middle child curse and passed it onto Daeron instead.

I know right! And with Daeron out there - that means another dragon is out there for Team Green.
