I thought it was one of the best episodes in the series. For sure one of the best since season 1.

I agree. The branding scene was not realistic but I loved the rest of it

Guess I'll be one of the few who loved this episode. Only part I wished they would have cut was Beth ruining another moment with Rip. The more they film outside on the ranch, the more my interest grows.

Can we talk about the secret service just showing up to town and killing all the dogs?

I mean…yeah that was Hollywood ridiculousness.
But that whole scene was. The idea that POTUS is gonna show up and it's a surprise to the swingin' dicks of the reservation but apparently everybody else in that entire state knew he was gonna be there is hilariously dopey.

Definitely the worst scene of the show. And the killing of dogs? That's not a thing in that manner

anyone got a screen shot of Dawn Oliviera (Sarah) ripping off that dress? She looks like she works out!

She's stunningly beautiful and in fantastic shape but I'd bet you dollars to donuts that was a body double.

It could be her. She's the EXACT role she was in House of Lies. It's a stolen character.

If you're seeing this character for the first time then I'm sure it doesn't bother you. But it bugs me that she's the exact same character. In House of Lies she was bad for Marty Kaan and her lines were similar. Her sedated tone is exactly the same. Sorry, I know I'm rambling but it's copied and unoriginal to me.

Yep. Her sedated, monochromatic speech is really stupid. Also, the scene where she explains rose wine to Jamie is stupid, stupid, stupid. He's not some redneck wrangler. It's like Sheridan went to Cannes and discovered rose and thought that he'd explain it to his viewers who he was sure didn't know anything about it.

And the little jealousy thing between the Senator and Piper is ridiculous and Dutton shuffling back and forth.

The positive is they are really doing some good work with Monica. She has been solid this season.

I agree the episode was slow, yet beautiful. Definitely a taste of nostalgia and longing for a simpler time in it.

I thought the first scene with Summer and Monica was fine, but the second by the graves was weird. Did Monica follow Summer for about a mile to say a few words, then hike back to peel more potatoes? Maybe the graves were closer than I thought.

Recall that in a previous episode they decided to make this a massive event for publicity sake. John was supposed to be able to avoid lots of meetings because everyone that wanted to meet with him would be at the ranch.

No dude. Time and space are different on the ranch.

You can walk miles away in a few minutes. Kinda like how Rip and Beth who have lived and/or worked on that ranch their whole lives discovered a new meadow for the first time. No cattle had ever gone to that part of the ranch before then apparently.

Thought it was a good episode but there does not seem to be much of a story arch this season (other than someone convincing Jaime that he should be governor and should try and dethrone John, which I'm pretty sure was the story arch for last season).

Pure speculation here, I think the bad guys or girl in this case are going to convince Jamie they want to impeach John. He will fall for this completely thinking they want him to be the Governor. In fact after implicating Jamie deeply they will assassinate or try to assassinate John. Jamie will then be killed by Beth and Beth will join a convent. No really, I'm serious!

If you listen to any scene that she's in without watching, and you were a fan of Brooklyn 99, you will never be able to hear her the same way after this:

I think Jaime finds a
Way to end up with the ranch. He's been getting effed over by that psychopath family for years.
He's gonna get his revenge.

Jamie doesn't have enough street smarts to accomplish this. Plus, Beth has the ultimate Sword of Damocles hanging over his head.
Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Only if Beth is dead, cuz she would straight up murder him if Jamie figured out a way to end up with the ranch.

I think Rip ends up with the ranch. Jaime kills Beth and Rip goes Rip on Jaime. The other son just fades off with his family.

I like the show. It's always tried too hard to be "cowboy" to the point of absurdity, but this season that has been dialed up even more.

I am not a cowboy, but I've worked for a few. The cowboyest of them didn't have to constantly try to prove it to you. You just knew.

I mean he did cause Beth to never be able to have kids ever again by withholding that info from her at the abortion clinic.

Alternate ending theory - Jaimie is playing the ME chick and will ultimately side with the family, probably dying as he saves Beth from death.

The absolute worst character is the female Indian attorney that is trying to screw over Rainwater. Her tone and speech cadence is so over the top bad I am surprised that the director actually allows it.

After I saw how he allowed Teeter's character to continue to talk like Sling Blade every episode, it didn't surprise me when I heard her speak.

She doesn't speak as much (all of the cowboys have taken smaller roles this season) but anyone thinking it's worse doesnt remember when she was first introduced. It was authentic frontier gibberish at the beginning.

Kayce gets the ranch and gives it back to the natives or they 'share' the property in some way.

And yes, the bad native attorney is one of the worst actresses I've ever witnessed.
