Pretty sure that both Jamie and Beth will be coincidentally targeted for hits on the same night in the final episode, and we won't know if either of them are dead until next season.

This seems like a solid bet.

The Beth/Jaime situation wears me out.

Yes, Jaime made a terrible decision about the abortion on the reservation. But does Beth not accept any responsibility for it? She was a wild-crazy teenager making her way through the cowboys' bunks, and got knocked up. Instead of taking it upon herself to fix her issue, she ran to her teenage brother. He didnt make a good decision, but it also shouldn't have been a teenage boys problem to solve.

Also, maybe I'd feel a bit more sympathy towards her, if she was likeable at all...but she's not exactly the 'motherly' type, who's missing out on her calling.

And good gosh...Jaime is such a giant child. He is the Attny General of Montana, and cant ever seen to recognize when people are using him. He just sits there with these wild Bambi eyes and makes the dumbest decisions in the history of mankind.

I like the other characters so much more, but these two and their feud get way too much airtime.

On a related note...who thought this was a good storyline?...Jaime is going to take down his dad in embarrassing fashion, and then run as his replacement for Governor?

"Governor Dutton was terrible/corrupt, vote for Governor Dutton instead!" ---Yeah, that'd work in real life.

That's when Jamie will go back to his birth name. And in typical Yellowstone fashion, not a single person will ask "hey, whatever happened to your dad anyway?"

I think I saw an interview this week that they haven't even finished filming the second half of the season yet. That was really surprising to hear.
They were in Venus, TX (outside Dallas) in mid-November filming for season two.

So yeah, still pretty recent on that.

Isn't this the last season?
Of course, the writing is so bad, I could see that story line being completely left out of the last episode, in favor of more horses spinning in circles.

That was my favorite scene. It's pretty incredible what Taylor Sheridan's horses can do. Idk if he shows his horses but they could win some money. In season 4 when John was looking for a new horse, Travis (Taylor Sheridan) basically showed up on scene with the best of the best cutting and reigning horses. High dollar horses just to show off for show but it was very entertaining for me personally. My wife did it growing up and is wanting to get back into it again.

What's funny about that....John Dutton was going to transform Yellowstone into another King Ranch, using the horses. It was going to save their property an usher in a new era.

But they completely dropped out of the story.

It's amazing how many seemingly pivotal storylines Sheridan starts, only to forget about.

So we finally caught up last night....

Sarah is gorgeous, but not to the extent that a normal guy would be a puppet like Jamie is.

Beth is just mentally unhinged, but obviously remembers some cowboying skills that she learned growing up.

Not really a cliffhanger. All we know is that both Jamie and Beth want to kill each other, but we've known that for what? 4 1/2 seasons now?

They're trying too hard to make Angela (?) Big Lips a villain but she's just terrible. And Big Bad tribal chairman has been reduced from a major force to a bit player.

Mo remains one of my favorite characters.

The dinner scene with Gator and the meats was hilarious.

Monica is actually tolerable these days. Teeters stupid accent is not.

Either the writers are being lazy with this season, or deceiving...I choose to believe deceiving:

Season 5, Part 2:
  • we find out John and Jaime planned this out all along (John never wanted to be Gov.). Jaime discussing a potential Hitman with Sarah helps me think he's setting her up.
  • Beth drives Sarah to the Train Station.
  • Kayce, Monica, and Tate reboot their life on the Ranch (this is big because this is the beginning of where I believe the endgame of the show is going).

All the story lines will come together putting the ranch back in Native American hands (SEE LAST EPISODE OF 1883):
  • Reservation lands will be protected and untouchable for outsiders' development.
  • Scene from 1883: The Crow leader recommended the area where the Dutton's settled in Montana, but made a promise that his people would reclaim the land in seven generations.
  • John will end up giving Kayce and Monica the keys to the Ranch, and Tate will be the sole beneficiary. The Ranch will then be part of the reservation (protected) and owned by a native American.
  • As promised, Tate would be the seventh generation.

Seems Beth already realizes the Ranch is gone on the business/financial side of things.
The writers seem to be painting the Ranch into a corner where there aren't any realistic solutions in saving it, except for Tate to ultimately "inherit" it.

The Beth hates Jaime story is the biggest beat down in the entire show.
I'm hoping if things play out the way it seems to be, she'll see that Jaime really did have the Ranch and the family in his best interest and she chills the f*** out.

Not sure how I want it to play out but the Beth hate towards Jamie was old in season two and just keeps going and going. She has shown no maturity at all.

Does she?

She just recently said 'that's how we save the ranch', when she wanted to take out a loan to process their own meat.

But this show is so schizzo, that whole thing might have been all for naught

It was because of that.

John wanted to take out a loan, since they were going to have to transport the cattle elsewhere, and that was going to cost 1.5 million per month. She wanted to use the loan to build a processing plant.

(though I'm not sure what they'd do with the cattle in the meantime)

I don't think she did. I just think we may see that storyline play out in Part 2 when she visits Rip down in Texas. With where the show is going, I think Taylor is setting up his 6666 spinoff that we've all been hearing about.

That's absolutely what's happening here…although the 6666 spinoff will apparently be more of an origin story at the beginning. From what I read about Season 6 plans, majority of it will be at the 6666 ranch. Seems Beth's beef selling idea is more of a short term answer. The long term issues for the Yellowstone Ranch will continue to play out, but as I stated earlier…IMO, the Ranch goes back to where it started (local Indian Tribes), Tate being the promised 7th generation.
