I only started watching because people (women mainly) were worshipping her. I couldn't stand her and wondered why she was so loved. I mean, you can be b**** in a good way, not like that. Plus I couldn't stand her voice.
There are a few scenes that she led that are just bad ass. The one I can think of off the top of my head is where she goes and defends Monica
That's probably the absolute best scene in the entire series!

I'd say she's the blend of bad ass who's a hot mess. At the same time wants to be taken care of when she wants a day off from kicking everybody's *** Feels like she didn't choose her attitude, but embraces it.

Seems like Sheridan wrote her as a Cowboy in a Skirt, vs a Cowgirl. Just got done catching up on 1893 & 1923 during the Louisville Snowmageddon and there are strong similarities between Beth and Elsa, rebellious ones both. Cara has the role in 1923, but doesn't seem to suit her as much.

I'm also picking up in all the actor crossover in his shows in Landman.

1923 is not quite as good as the others. It's just not developing at the pace of the others, Landman included.

I think this is the reason I like 1923 better. Seems to be taking a little more time for character devlopment without jumping to whole new stories for each character.

Either the writers are being lazy with this season, or deceiving...I choose to believe deceiving:

Season 5, Part 2:
  • we find out John and Jaime planned this out all along (John never wanted to be Gov.). Jaime discussing a potential Hitman with Sarah helps me think he's setting her up.
  • Beth drives Sarah to the Train Station.
  • Kayce, Monica, and Tate reboot their life on the Ranch (this is big because this is the beginning of where I believe the endgame of the show is going).

All the story lines will come together putting the ranch back in Native American hands (SEE LAST EPISODE OF 1883):
  • Reservation lands will be protected and untouchable for outsiders' development.
  • Scene from 1883: The Crow leader recommended the area where the Dutton's settled in Montana but made a promise that his people would reclaim the land in seven generations.
  • John will end up giving Kayce and Monica the keys to the Ranch, and Tate will be the sole beneficiary. The Ranch will then be part of the reservation (protected) and owned by a native American.
  • As promised, Tate would be the seventh generation.

My post from 2 years ago on this thread...almost right.
Elsa narrating at the end of the last episode brought up what the Crow leader had said back in 1883 that his people would reclaim the Dutton land in seven generations. Interesting Tate is that 7th generation, and he's still on the land.

I do like how the other shows come together to end Season 5 and the Yellowstone show, I'm just curious how much of the story was changed due to Costner leaving. What was the initial ending Sheridan wrote?

I stated earlier in this thread a few years ago that the Beth/Jaimie drama was way off the rails, and I still believe that was always such a weird story. I never thought the hate for him was rationale as he was just a kid with honest intent to help his sister. Beth and the rest of the family seemed to never really accept him into the family. Even with the discussion of assassination (which he wasn't for), and then his reaction after it happened of being devastated didn't give me the vibe he hated the family. If the intent was to get the audience to hate Jaime, it fell short with me.

1923 has not disappointed me to the degree of other Sheridan shows. It still disappointed me, but I will probably watch the second season.

Jury is still out on Landman for me. I've only seen the pilot, but Billy Bob was great.

I actually think 1923 is the best of the three shows.

It's just taking way too long for season 2. At this point I don't remember anything that happened in season 1, other than man-eating lions.

I remember more of it than of 1883. Just Ft. Worth and taking weeks just to cross the Brazos. Then Indians.

For 1923 I remember the family in Montana fighting to keep their land and the (GOT) Scottish bad dude plus Bond (timothy Dalton) plus hookers and some kinky s****. Of course the big game hunter dude and his torrid affair with the blonde hottie and the boat sinking. Also the indian woman abused and escaping into the frontier and being hunted.

Ps I think it was a leopard not a lion.

Nah ... they got rescued. But it still didn't end well.

"1923" is a little challenging to keep track of because there are three disparate story lines that haven't come together yet -- range war, Indian girl escaping and James Dutton's son in Africa.

It moves slower because of all that, too.

Pretty ambitious for a television show, especially considering the amount of location shooting.

Landman is so irreverent to past the point of ridiculousness, it becomes like a train wreck you can't stop watching.

Next week the old folks go to the strip club and the star quarterback is going to dance for an old lady to get some from Billy Bob's daughter (also the daughter in law in 1923), Billy Bob's wife set this up. If you thought Teeter/Sheridan's horse guy was pushing limits, strap in.

1893/Yellowstone certainly maintained a torrid pace for action, 1923 is definitely slower paced. Landman is shaping up to be another fast paced show.

Yellowstone jumped the rails around season 3, yet I stuck it out. It set the tone for me anything Sheridan written just has a LOT of story with little depth. However, I think that's why I like 1923 so much because it's not in a big hurry, and you are actually getting a lot more depth with the characters and the story. Season 1 of 1923 just seemed so different from all of his recent shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness, and now Landman. It's just not in a damn hurry.
