I have been thinking lately about when the best time it would be to begin reading The Hobbit to my son and daughter. They are 6 and soon to be 5 respectively. I was thinking 7 or 8 might be the best age to begin.
I read it to mine at the beginning of the RONA. The 8 year old loved it, the 6 year old enjoyed it but found it challenging to follow, and the 4 year old was bored.

TBH some of the CGI already looks a little dated on my 4K TV when I pop in the blue-ray. Not much reason to get a 4K version won't notice the difference.

Was thinking the same thing about 4k. All the new Marvel films look amazing in 4K. I feel LotR will look fake, like all of the Hobbit movies.

Doesn't mean I probably won't buy them, anyways.

ffs, why would they put Silmarillion in that spot, and think it could be only one movie?

ROTK is the rare case of a movie that could've justifiably been two movies. Extended version is 4:20. Split it after the Battle of Pelennor Fields, and add in the Scouring of the Shire for the second film.

Whereas a few short years later, you had the prime example of an unnecessary split finale (HP7), with one entire movie of absolutely nothing happening.

How did nothing happen in one of the movies? Have you read the books?

accurate as hell.

If creators can't tell a story that can be wrapped up in five novels or three movies, I will likely not be consuming it.

There is a distinction between the world building of Tolkien and the Dorkverses that Marvel and DC have spawned.

Nothing happened in the first HP7 movie. From what I can even remember, they ran around a forest for two hours looking for horcruxes.

No, I haven't read the book.

TC's next project needs to be Bombadil and Bombadil 2: Civil War.

I am in so hard on those.

Sometimes you need the crying-laughing emoji.

Only issue is that the Silmarillion should be 50 Movies.

When you haven't read the books but bash the movie you fall into the category of people who didn't read Game of Thrones, then complained during season 1 that they couldn't tell the characters apart because everybody had a beard.

Starts with the chase, when Harry leaves his Aunts and Uncles house, then the attack at the wedding, then sneaking into the ministry, then going to Harry's hometown and attacked by the snake, then going to Lovegoods, then getting captured and escaping, leading to Dobbys death. Other than that, you're right. Nothing really happened.

I really recommend reading the books. The movies just didn't do them justice.
