I actually spent an entire semester teaching the trilogy to a group of HS students. Aragon was the favorite of most.
The girls liked Legolas once we started watching the movies.

What is up with the Balrog's wings? I mean breaking the bridge shouldn't have mattered right? Was the chasm too narrow for him to get his wings outstretched? Couldn't he have just flown back up? Are they just for show?
