Next season, Shield will come on at 9pm central time.

http://tvline.com/2016/05/17/abc-fall-tv-schedule-2016-scandal-season-6-midseason-delayed/

Everything I've read before this news predicted a 5th season due to syndication, but I don't like the idea of moving the time slot. Hopefully I'm worrying about nothing. Shield has become my favorite show on tv now and would hate for it to get cancelled.

I'm not overly concerned with it right now. Apparently this is the reasoning:

Now, I should say that one of the reasons that ABC has had issues lately with their Tuesday 10 PM slot is that they have stuck freshman shows in that slot for the last few years. Some pretty terrible (Killer Women) Even with the lead in of AoS, the shows didn't do well before they were cancelled. Probably the best show to occupy that time slot in recent history was Forever which was canceled last year. Which is frankly a shame because even though it wasn't anything ground breaking on the buddy cop drama front, it was enjoyable and did fairly well ratings wise. Now Quantico (or as I like to refer to it as, Sextico) did premier in that time slot as well, but that show is ****ing terrible and I don't get why people like it plus it was moved to Sundays anyways.

What I find more troubling is that ABC is seemingly going even more in on more Shonda Rhimes shows next year. So next year there will be Grey's [Stupidity], Scandal, How to get away with murder[ing your audience's intelligence], The Catch, and Still Star-Crossed (apparently Romeo and Juliet type of show).

Personally, I'm rooting for some of Rhimes' shows to lose some viewers and just die off. Also, while I almost feel bad for saying this because it's Hayley Atwell's new show, I want Conviction to do poorly as well. Mostly because it looks as generic as ****.

I understand why Agent Carter was cancelled, and frankly the second season did not live up to the first, but I'd rather have some shows that aren't more of the same. We have been flooded with crime procedurals and dramas for medical, police, and lawyer type shows long enough. The nice thing about AoS is that it's done well enough to be enjoyable and provide that variation. The unfortunate thing is that it appears that shows like this on broadcast TV just don't tend to last long as their drama counterparts. Maybe the audience gets confused or something? Yeah I don't know, given how mindless most of the dramas are. I mean, I watched every episode of The Player this season, and while I knew it would likely get cancelled, it was still a damn fine enjoyable action show. Almost in the same vein as Person of Interest, but more heavy on the action.

At this point, ABC's so invested in the show that they need to get this to syndication. So I'm thinking that they need to at least get it to season 5, even if it gets a shortened fifth season, to get it to syndication.

So who is the new Director?

Awesome season finale!

That was incredible. Simply incredible. Hive in all his villainous splendor was truly a sight to behold.

LMD's, Aida (spelling?), Coulson is no longer director of SHIELD, Dr. Radcliffe looks to be sticking around for awhile, Fitz and Simmons may not be in SHIELD anymore, and May wasn't around in the epilogue. Will Daisy be our antagonist next season? So many questions. So many new things.

As much as I started to like Lincoln towards the end, I'm glad it was him.

Brett Dalton acted his ass off this season. Dude played like 3 roles. Sad to see him go.

Also first time we see her referred to as Quake via newspaper clippings

That finale was pretty freaking fantastic. Daisy looks so hot with that long, black hair.

Did Coulson refer to the new director as "he?" I already forgot. If not, maybe May is the director. Doubt Talbot would be it, but maybe. Otherwise, I'm guessing someone new?
jabberwalkie09

It was just the director I think. I don't remember a he or she.

I'm hoping its Hill, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Agreed. The man deserves an award for his work on AoS. The final scene he had together with Lincoln was pretty great IMO.

Also, let's not forget Shotgun Axe.

Yeah, even though IMDB isn't the most reliable of sources it reflects the next Jack Reach film in post and another called Why We're Killing Gunther in pre-production slated for 2017.

It also depends on how they are going to play out the ramifications of Civil War going into next season as well. I don't think any of the trucks in 6 months later had a SHIELD logo on them.

If the show takes place in real time, then 6 months is around the time that Dr. Strange is released

Very impressive finale. Agree that Brett Dalton had an especially great episode. Pretty glad Lincoln is gone.

Really great season finale. Brett Dalton was awesome. Really going to miss him on the show.

I'm glad we're finally done with Hydra, especially since the movie realm is done with Hydra.

We've all said how Mack haw really stepped up his game, but man, I thought he did awesome tonight. His scene with Daisy was spectacular. That's a guy you want to fight with.

I wanted Daisy to die so badly. I was almost upset that it was Lincoln, which says a lot about his character development. If Daisy is the antagonist for next season like it looks like she might be, I would be all for that. Great season finale!

I enjoyed the finale. At the end, Coulson just says "director" (does not indicate gender).

I remember Fitz killing the magnetic inhuman, but what happened to the Australian guy? I must have missed that. Did he die?

I could have sworn that at the end the computer said welcome back director when Holden Radcliff walked into the office and he said he was back from the last round of hearings.

I don't see why he would be director but that what I assumed based on that.
texasaggie04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think it was just hearings to clear him of any wrongdoings. I assume the new director will be a new character, somebody under UN leadership maybe.

I just watched it...It said "Doctor Radcliff"

Australian guy got knocked out by May and we didn't see him again. Safe to assume he's captive now.

Mack and Coulson were apparently tasked with trying to capture Daisy but their exchange at the end made it sound like they weren't trying hard at all. I don't think she'll be the main antagonist next season. She appears to just be trying to keep old promises and make up for her mistakes. That makes for a pretty vanilla plot if she's the antagonist.
israeliag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
She's not the Antagonist. The newspaper clipping insinuated she's at worst a Robin Hood character now.

Agree with the sentiment that that was a good finale, and that I too would have preferred to trade Lincoln with Daisy. Surprised I didn't see his death coming sooner considering how much they built his character up. And did they allude that he was Jesus? Sacrificing himself and dying for our sins?

Loved the last scene of Lincoln and Hive together - felt like a great send off to Brett Dalton, with his reflection on his role and on Earth, and his waiting his death rather than going all rage.

A few Qs:
1. Do we have any indication who the LMD might be?
2. Are all those under Hive's control now no longer so? Hoping we'll see the Aussie guy as a good guy next season.
3. With the Hunter/Bobbi's show canceled (thank goodness), should we expect them back in the fold? Would make for some great scenes to have Hunter and Aussie guy bantering at each other.

Director conjecture: Could Nick Fury be back?

You know, this is a pretty good question. For simplicity sake, we probably can assume yes. Still, these individuals were "infected" by part of Hive, right? Do the Hive bits just die off when Hive days?

I would think so. How could a dead guy have influence

I didn't take it as so much a Jesus reference, although I see what you mean, as he wasn't dying just for Daisy's mistakes but that they were all responsible as a way for Coulson to take some of her guilt away.

My 1st thought was also Nick Fury, kind of going back to the 1st season where they were only a part of SHIELD. If they are ever going to have him back in a prominent role in the movies that would make sense. My other thought is that the LMD is Maria Hill and she will be the new director.

I also hope Bobbi and Hunter come back
texasaggie04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think Hill would be most likely of characters we know. I'm assuming that the director was appointed after the Sokovia accords, and they all assume fury is dead. Stark might have recommended her.
Either that or maybe it's talbot. That would be pretty interesting and might explain why Coulson wasn't trying too hard to catch Daisy, if that was indeed the case.

That final scene with Lincoln and Hive was just downright amazing. Amazing acting and so glad it didn't end up being a punch em up. "I finally get to experience something new, death" , "They are flawed, they are human". Just some great stuff

The parasites infecting their brains don't necessarily have to had died along with Hive. So while there wouldn't be any future influence as Hive's not around to issue new commands, his previous commands and will could still have sway over them.

Reminded me a bit of the conversation between Vision and Ultron at the end of AoU

Brett Dalton did a fantastic job, but they absolutely HAD to kill him off this season. You can only have so much of the same guy as the baddie before it just becomes redundant and silly.

Lincoln grew on me a little bit in the very end, but for the most part he was annoying and I'm glad to see him go. However, Daisy was REALLY grating on my nerves by the end, and I wouldn't have minded her being killed off.

I liked how they left things - everything has changed, the team is (seemingly) broken up...its a welcome and needed breath of fresh air.

I hate the move to the later slot. It just assures I'll never watch it when it airs. Damn Eastern time zone.

And lastly, the best thing they did was get rid of Bobbi and Hunter...please oh please don't bring them back!

Remember a few seasons ago when people thought Ward would redeem himself by turning good again (a la the Buffy series)? They showed us!

Even though it was a beautiful sending for the characters, I would welcome back Bobbi and Hunter in a heartbeat! Adrianne Palicki can do no wrong in my eyes. It would probably be so contrived, but I love those characters.

I almost didn't mind Hunter, but Bobbi grated on my nerves for some reason. Plus she seemed redundant when we already have May as the badass female. IDK, maybe the cast was just too big at that time for my liking, plus their storyline was so one dimensional - the love/hate relationship. That was literally all they brought to the table.

So, I got off track and finally binge watched the second half last night and sunday night.

Damn. I will watch anything mo tancharoen touches. So good.

I think the cross juggling was brilliant at toying with our emotions. I was gonna be pissed if Mack died. I knew Daisy was. I was sad to see Brett Dalton go. Sad that the Lash arch couldn't have lasted longer.

Not sure how I feel about Radcliffe's new arch...but I am excited to see where it goes.

Rewatching the show before season 4 starts and am on Trip's last episode. I really wish we would have gotten more of his character. His relationship with the Koenigs was always a highlight. I also hope to see the Koenigs soon!
