I have seen this movie twice and am seriously considering seeing it a third time.

Very few movies in the last decade or so for me have I ever done that. The only one I can remember was the first Avengers movie.

This is the only movie I've seen twice in the theater, not counting things like Alamo Drafthouse replays 20 years later. Maybe there was one other is the last 15 years. I thought the chase in TRW was the coolest thing ever as a kid, and I think the vehicles have a direct link to the soul of my 9 year old Lego-loving self - with a little bit of the old CarToons magazines thrown. Immortan Joe's ride reminded my of Krass and Bernie.

Was it supposed to be a comedy? If so, I found it humorous. If not, it wasn't all that great.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this just doesn't make sense.

You either ingested a mixing bowl of drugs before getting on this site or you posted on the wrong thread.

i (and the theater i was in) definitely laughed out loud many times, but if that's all you got out of it, i'm not sure you were actually watching the same movie we were

Was the main character a guy named 'Vinnie'?

If so, you were in a theater showing "Entourage."

I laughed out loud at the sheer absurdity of scenes several times. One was when the guitar player made his first appearance.

There were a few scenes that were completely absurd. Thats about all the entertainment I got out of the movie. I realize my opinion is in the minority.

i saw this a week or two back. someone else bought the tickets, so we saw it in 3D. i really hate 3D. so, i've decided i need to rewatch this in good quality 2D.

I enjoyed the movie but the guitar player was pretty funny/ridiculous.

I think for any moviegoer who had seen the original Mad Max movies, it was actually not that far off base.

But that's been debated a lot on this thread already.

Finally saw it this past weekend and enjoyed it. There were definitely some absurd characters, but that is always the case with this franchise.

Some of you keep using the words "absurd" and "ridiculous" like it's not intentional.
wessimo

Being intentional does not mean it is not funny.

I feel like "over-the-top" or "epic" describes it better than "absurd" or "ridiculous".

"Over the top" makes it seem more like a stylistic choice.

"Absurd" makes it seem like a comedy or satire.

As far as my post, I meant ridiculous in a good way. Like the F&F movies.

The guitar player was awesome. Thinking about being him for Halloween.

FWIW my opinion is probably skewed since I never saw the originals and I never saw a trailer for the new movie.

I'll never forget this

I met the flaming guitar player last night. He was the lead in a show at the Sydney Opera House. He was so good I crashed the cast party after the show to tell him how much I enjoyed the show.

It was only after the show when I looked him up on IMDB that I realized he was the flaming guitar player. Random cool encounter.

What does not seeing the trailer have to do with anything? I'm so confused by this post.

It's pretty simple. I didn't know anything about the movie beforehand and that's why thought it wasn't good. I didn't know it was going to be so weird.

Yeah, I hadn't watched the originals but knew they were sort of in an f'ed up universe so I looked into them a bit and went in with a slight expectation and a very open mind. I came out very pleased.

Are you the same offhand spectator of normal day to day movies? "I didn't know The Matrix was going to be so weird, so I didn't like it. I didn't know Avatar was going to be so weird, so I didn't like it. I didn't know Waterworld was going to be so weird, so I didn't like it."

(Guilty Confession: I like Waterworld. I wasn't of age when it came out to really be cogniscient, so whereas a lot of people see it as a flop due to pre hype, I actually sort of thought it was good enough.)

No. I never watched the originals and we have two month old twins....so we havent been too in touch with the outside world lately. We had a chance to get out of the house and we saw this movie. At least we were able to get out of the house. I find it humorous that I simply gave an opinion and i seemed to ruffle some fanboys. I don't really care one way or the other. I didn't read the whole thread. Heck, I didn't even read the page I posted on. I just gave my opinion.

I liked The Matrix, Waterworld, and Avatar

I was saddened today to learn that Fury Road was shot entirely in 2.8K and mastered from a 2K digital intermediate.

The movie doesn't exist, and never will exist, in anything better than 1080p (or regular 'ol blu-ray standard HD)

I don't have anything against films shot digitally, but I wish George Miller had at least used a Red One or some other 4K camera and used a 4K digital intermediate.

This would have been a GREAT Ultra HD Blu-Ray title

You can only upconvert it to higher resolutions.

the era of the 2K digital intermediate is a dark period in film technology. It takes the best thing about 35mm film and cripples it with the worst thing about video. The practice really needs to die, immediately.
