The podcast going deep on A&M is out. I haven't listened yet, but will this afternoon.
No big surprises - I enjoyed listening. They didn't hate on the Carson move as much as I thought they would - and did last year. It doesn't bother me at all. She was a student and deserved the chance to finish out what she helped create. Talked about how we still have an open scholarship which is an open mystery for everyone.
The question marks were at 5 and 6 singles and doubles. Emphasized how strong our top 4 is and especially how strong at #1 and #4. But also how much stress it puts on those 4 to have three question marks (#5, #6 and doubles). I agree with this take when comparing to the other elite teams and especially Georgia.
Spent quite a bit of time on Daria, her potential, struggles last season, and strong fall.
A few reminders that we know but were fun to celebrate again:
Historic upset of UNC at UNC.
Mary going full GOAT mode during the NCAA run - didn't lose a set in singles.
- Defeats UNC #1 Scotty 6-4. 7-6
- Defeats UVA #1 Shaikh 6-2, 6-1
- Defeats Tenn #1 Cabezas 6-1, 6-2
- Defeats Georgia #1 Dasha 6-1, 7-6
Lulu winning FIFTEEN straight singles matches to close the year.
They do give Georgia the nod. Primarily because we lost Carson, they lost nobody, and Lopata made the biggest jump of anyone across the two teams. They did feel like Georgia is playing with more pressure since they haven't gotten it done.
Despite their picks and the UTR rankings, I'm picking our Aggies to become the 4th team ever to go back-to-back.
