How much longer do you think Madi will be race director for? It seems like there was a lot of controversy around his management of safety and rules this season.
They ae communicating with other teams but, the telecast picks and chooses which to show to the viewer. Same with the peek into driver radio calls.Brad 98 said:
I agree completely! I think they only time that they should talk is if Masi reaches out or its a Red Flag. I don't remember hearing from any other team principal except Christian and Toto. Am I wrong?
They could have told back markers to take the pitlane. Now, there's probably no precedent or explicit rule for that either, but if they are using 48.13 to overstep 48.12, then they could have used the same logic there too.La Fours said:
Couldn't safely do it at the start of the safety car. Marshals were on the track cleaning up the wreck.
Don't disagree. Honestly, things were much simpler when they weren't using safety cars (or very rarely used them). Of course, the death rate was a lot higher back then too...tailgatetimer10 said:
They need to simplify the rules to keep it engaging
No, but my point is if they told the back markers to take the pit lane and left the lead lap cars behind the safety car then the back markers would have rejoined at the back. It would be a method of moving them to the back without having them overtake the safety car and drive around the circuit at a faster pace.La Fours said:
Was the wreck in a place on the track where taking the pit lane would bypass it?

Geez. Where were these whiners in lap one, practice 3, last week on the double yellow, last week with the steward decisions throughout the race
Completely different. Max is overly aggressive and dangerous. Lewis is not. /sarcasm

Mercedes should have gone with Lewis' first instinct, it is usually correct. He is the best overall driver and has a great ability to process race strategy as things change in a race.

Just answer this….would y'all want the race to be decided by the drivers and teams or the race director?
This specific incident, not previous inconsistencies. Those have no bearing on this one.Enviroag02 said:

I think they got it wrong, Hamilton and Mercedes have every right to be angry. The vibe on this board would be very different had the roles been reversed with Max being in the lead and getting passed by Lewis. If they really wanted to end on racing they should have red flagged it.

Anyone else notice how far inside Lewis went right before Max overtook him? That's not the normal line, is it?

It's looking like without a safety car or vsc, could be an exciting last couple of laps.

Given how incredibly exciting this season was and how the profile of the sport improved under his stewardship, probably a long time.
Scoreboard? I've mostly been rooting for Max this season, just for the shakeup in results. Still feel Hamilton is the best overall driver right now. If Max has another season of getting the most pole positions and leading the most laps over the season, the transition from the Hamilton era to Max era will begin.Azariah said:tk for tu juan said:

Scoreboard. Max is the best overall driver.
