How much longer do you think Madi will be race director for? It seems like there was a lot of controversy around his management of safety and rules this season.

This is what I didn't get. Why not move the cars from the get go. There would be 0 controversy if this happened. Would've gotten a good 5 minutes of Mercedes meltdown too

I agree completely! I think they only time that they should talk is if Masi reaches out or its a Red Flag. I don't remember hearing from any other team principal except Christian and Toto. Am I wrong?
They ae communicating with other teams but, the telecast picks and chooses which to show to the viewer. Same with the peek into driver radio calls.

It's almost always Max diving in and pushing Hamilton wide isn't it? Almost feels by design at this point, expecting a decision to draw the position back.

Couldn't safely do it at the start of the safety car. Marshals were on the track cleaning up the wreck.

There's an entire remainder of the track to start doing this at any other point

They could have told back markers to take the pitlane. Now, there's probably no precedent or explicit rule for that either, but if they are using 48.13 to overstep 48.12, then they could have used the same logic there too.

They need to simplify the rules to keep it engaging

Don't disagree. Honestly, things were much simpler when they weren't using safety cars (or very rarely used them). Of course, the death rate was a lot higher back then too...

Was the wreck in a place on the track where taking the pit lane would bypass it?

No, but my point is if they told the back markers to take the pit lane and left the lead lap cars behind the safety car then the back markers would have rejoined at the back. It would be a method of moving them to the back without having them overtake the safety car and drive around the circuit at a faster pace.

Oh ok. That's a good idea to clear them out of the way with out having to unlap.

Get out of here with that logic.

That's like saying the white lines should be considered the track limits

Payouts are awarded based on the constructors championship, so Mercedes has nothing to gain from their appeal other than bragging rights.

Geez. Where were these whiners in lap one, practice 3, last week on the double yellow, last week with the steward decisions throughout the race

Completely different. Max is overly aggressive and dangerous. Lewis is not. /sarcasm

Mercedes should have gone with Lewis' first instinct, it is usually correct. He is the best overall driver and has a great ability to process race strategy as things change in a race.

Scoreboard. Max is the best overall driver.

Just answer this….would y'all want the race to be decided by the drivers and teams or the race director?

This specific incident, not previous inconsistencies. Those have no bearing on this one.

I think they got it wrong, Hamilton and Mercedes have every right to be angry. The vibe on this board would be very different had the roles been reversed with Max being in the lead and getting passed by Lewis. If they really wanted to end on racing they should have red flagged it.

The difference is RB likely wouldn't be threatening legal action outside of the normal appeals process, and everyone here would have the attitude Max had. "Yeah, not surprising" in a rational non emotional discussion.

Anyone else notice how far inside Lewis went right before Max overtook him? That's not the normal line, is it?

No, being completely outside the white lines and off track is not the normal racing line. That's a blocking move.

Given how incredibly exciting this season was and how the profile of the sport improved under his stewardship, probably a long time.

It's looking like without a safety car or vsc, could be an exciting last couple of laps.

I hope he sticks around. I've disagreed with some of his decisions, but when the season is taken as a whole, it was awesome to see. Especially the second half, which is my first half of racing I've ever watched.

To be fair, a lot of the decisions that were controversial were made by the stewards and not Masi.

I can't say one way or the other if Masi needs to go. I don't have any knowledge of the sport prior to him.

Scoreboard? I've mostly been rooting for Max this season, just for the shakeup in results. Still feel Hamilton is the best overall driver right now. If Max has another season of getting the most pole positions and leading the most laps over the season, the transition from the Hamilton era to Max era will begin.

As if the Feeders testing wasn't exciting already, Irina Sidorkova is testing FRECA in Barcelona https://instagr.am/p/CXaHKnEIo6v

Very curious to see if she would make a move to FRECA like Jamie Chadwick did (speaking of her, I wonder if she can land an F3 seat)

Tuesday for the F1 Young Drivers Test
Tuesday/Wednesday for the Pirelli test (only current F1 drivers can participate on this one)
then Thursday to Saturday F2 test

There might not be any racing until late March but there's still so many signings to be done for supporting series

If you are still completely confused by what happened yesterday, here is a good article from F1 website.
