I think we're going to see that problems at Ferrari last year regarding him were pretty evenly caused by Vet and Ferrari and this isn't a rebirth or whatever some F1 media has been selling it as

He got caught up in the yellow because of mazepin's second spin out right?

Anyone else pay for F1 tv? I like it but I find myself watching the main coverage that I could just watch on espn.

He did get caught up in that but stroll was faster lap 1 I believe and barely made it through it as well after lap 2

Another big note about Q2

If you qualify in the 10 to make it into Q3, you start the race on which ever tire compound your fast lap was on.

So there's always a balance between making sure you make a fast enough lap time versus wanting to start on the harder compound for the race to go longer first stint.

Also, I'm really digging the new livery of several teams. Williams, Ferrari, and as much as I hate to admit it, the greener Mercedes. I like that Ferrari took lots of the same design elements from their 1000th GP car.

Big shock that Perez is out. But, as good as he is with tyres I'd expect to see him make his way to the front of the grid.

Ferrari performance this round makes me excited that there will be some good competition this season.

Yeah, Alpine does look good too. I have always liked the Haas look, just didn't notice much of a change from the previous years.

Yeah it did. Just not sure I like the risk/reward there since if he didn't get that lap down he'd be in 10th on used softs to start the race.

Charles has had good one lap speed his career with Ferrari but can't control everything on that lap like we saw to finish Q1

No doubt. Especially disappointing after the practices because it was looking like a reasonable expectation for Checo at the top of the board.

But don't forget what he can do with a good car. Remember the race last year where he worked his way way up the board after a lap 1 (I think) incident.

Even if Checo can work the field I don't think they'll be able to play strategy together like the Mercs will. If Checo gets a killer start and gets up towards the front in the first 5 laps, it might be a different story.

Storylines to watch tomorrow for me are going to be if Max can hold off both Mercs, if Mclaren can do something with drivers P5 and 6, and if Gasly and co actually have the race pace we saw in quali today.

Should be a good one

Yeah, I only said that with the hope that Checo could possibly be a factor towards the end. It'd be nice to start the season w/o a Mercedes win.

With the second Red Bull car never seeming to meet expectations, it got me wondering something. When a team changes a driver, does the new guy have any say on the people on his race team? Or is that all controlled by the team?

Meaning, at what point does Horner start looking at the folks who setup the car, and are creating the race strategies?

Cant all just be on the driver.

I would have to think that Checo will be more involved in that regard than Gasly or Albon, since both were essentially rookies when they came to the #2 car.

Ehh I'd give it a few races still.

They missed Q3 by gambling on mediums in Q2. Max is also best or damn near best driver on the grid imo. He gives Merc more of a fight than Red Bull has had the car to the last few seasons.
