The interesting story here is that this special livery was originally intended for Japan, since Japan was originally scheduled for this weekend. Even though Japan was cancelled, Red Bull continued with the special livery. The special livery is a tribute to Honda Racing, who will be departing F1 in the near future.
Our family finally got tickets for COTA yesterday. We got cheap tickets for Friday session to hopefully see FP1, FP2, and the concert later on.

Lec spins the last turn of a flyer towards the ends of Q2, Sainz gets fitted with tires (hadn't ran Q2 because he's at the rear anyway for an engine change) and gets out to give Lec a slip through the fast bit of the lap on Lec's last minute flyer to make Q3 on mediums.

Ocon's right front, if Hamilton would've come in when they called him in the first time he would've had a better chance but he dug his own grave by staying out too long
It was kind of a boring race until about lap 40 or so, when the talks of going the entire race on the 1 set of inters started. Checo had a great day and did an amazing job racing Hamilton near the end.

That was a pretty entertaining race. Good change of pace from the normal who makes the undercut best wins strategy.
Ham usually annoys me but I think he was right. At worst he would've finished where he did without a stop I think.
Vet and Aston just going full send onto slicks was the best lap of the race.

Also think Gasly got screwed on that 5 second penalty. Not sure where he was supposed to go plus first lap shenanigans.
Tin foil hat idea is that Alonso's comments on different rules for different drivers this week helped fuel that penalty.
They didn't show the Alo MSC incident that I saw so no idea if that one was warranted

He was losing a second per lap. He should have pitted when they told him to five laps earlier. This one is on him, but of course he wants to blame the team.
That's exactly what I was thinking on Gasly's penalty. Total BS and only happened because Alonso has been crying.
Watched it recorded, no way I was getting up to watch live after being at Kyle last night. About what I expected after seeing the news that Hamilton was taking the penalty. Pretty wild to think he probably could've gone 58 laps on a single set of tires.

Lol, as much as I have criticized him in the past and called him a whiner, I have no issues with Hamilton's comments. If I were in the same situation, I wouldn't be calm on the radio about it either. But given a bit of time and a chance to debrief, move on to the next race.
Didn't get to watch til today. Interesting strategy. Like seeing anyone but Hamilton on the podium and Max retake the lead. Can't wait to go to Austin.
Hearing a renewal is in the works as the demand for Austin has been nuts this year. Expecting 360k. Some more after parties soon to be announced with big guests attached too.

LOL yeah I just booked my hotel which has never ever been a problem in the past 7 or 8 years.
I ended up at a roach motel in Bastrop for $100 Friday night. Gonna be in College Station Saturday night after the game so that should be a much better experience.
