Sydney McLaughlin just passed Shamier Little for the WL in the 400 hurdles with a 52.83 beating Little's 53.12

I could tell you if Walton was still here he would have been in Oregon now and would have met the Olympic qualifying standard already. Unfortunately it does not seem he is going Tokyo

Absolutely true, he could've been in the mid-low 44's and been a HUGE leg in our relay! Seems like he's in a wrong mental state, I hope he can turn it around next season!

In Tyra Gitten's post recapping her championships, one of our assistant coaches Terri Turner-Hairston commented this... this could mean anything or possibly just an inside joke between the two... but it makes you think big news is on the way... news regarding Tokyo or possibly her last year of eligibility... what do you all think?!?!?!?!

What Aggie track athletes should we be looking for in the trials? Ones currently in school and ones that already turned pro..

There are also a few athletes mostly the Americans that should be competing at the trials to earn a spot: Devin Dixon, Brandon Miller, Bryce Deadmon

As well as Maggie Malone in the javelin and Annie Kunz in the Heptathlon

The last form chart for US Olympic Trials from Track and Field News was done April 15. It will probably get updated this week and will obviously change some. But from that list the Aggies I see are:

MEN
400 Meters - #2 Fred Kerley, #3 Bryce Deadman. I'd guess Kerley will stay #2 and Deadman will drop to #4 behind Randolf Ross

800 Meters - #1 Donovan Brazier, #4 Devin Dixon. I'd guess Dixon will fall out of top 10 but Brandon Miller will be in the back half of the top 10.

WOMEN
400 Meters - #8 Jessica Beard

800 Meters - #1 Athing Mu

400 Hurdles - #3 Shamier Little

Javelin - #1 Maggie Malone

Heptathlon - #3 Annie Kunz

I think we have an excellent shot at having 6 members of the US team. Might sneak in a 7th.

I believe high school signee Katelyn Fairchild should fill the field in the javelin and compete as well even without hitting the trials standard! Which is amazing!

Charokee Young also hit the Olympic Standard and will also be fighting for a spot on the Jamaican team!

That's a bold move! Could put Bryce Deadman on the team. Kerley ran 9.91 / 20.24 in April. Ran 44.60 in Doha a couple of weeks ago and Michael Norman was clearly better. Very interesting choice.

Well, I see that @fkerley99 is down for the 100m and 200m but not the 400m at the US Olympic Trials. It makes sense following his recent performances and wins over particularly the shorter sprint.

Looking at entries I see Ameer Webb is entered in the 200. He made the team in 2016. Maybe he'll surprise again.

WOW! Would never have expected that! Although with sprint specific work, he can definitely get into the 9.8's! And earn a second or 3rd spot behind Bromell! Not sure about the 200 though! He can then be in the 4x100 relay pool and possibly still do the 4x400 as well! Besides Michael Norman and Randolph Ross, it'll be between Deadmon, Michael Cherry and Noah Williams! Going to be fun watching that one!

Yeah!! She went 42'11 in the shot and 142'5 in the discus as a freshman and she's only 5'8 140! Her sophomore season was derailed due to injuries and Covid, but if she stays healthy she'll explode this season and the offers will come pouring in! If A&M offers she'll really consider us! Hopefully by the end of high schools she's over 50 and 170!

Natosha Rogers will also be competing in the 10k at the trials

Thomas will for sure do discus I think that's where she can go over 150/160 as a freshman, but what I meant was that I would like to see what she has in the javelin! She looks like one although no experience throwing it! Since we seem to recruit more jav women! Although I personally only want her to throw discus! With Hankins, Mirabelli, Foster, Fairchild, Scheifele, and Thomas I like how our young but talented throws group will look!

I was thinking someone like our own Alison Ondrusek or Maggie Ewen as tall fit throwers. I'd need to see her throw something to get an idea if she has the arm speed.

She seems pretty quick and athletic also! Lots of potential!

There's no age criteria, just finishing eligibility within 5 yrs of the 1st semester of full-time college enrollment unless there has been a rule change.

A good thing is I saw on social media that Distin was coming back! I'm sure Acquah will want too since she's been improving like crazy year after year! I bet Ruth Usoro and Jasmine Moore may go pro after the Olympics!

A good thing is that Cockrell, Terry, Yeargin, and Annelus of USC have said they are not coming back as Brittley Humphrey and Tonea Marshall of LSU! Now if we can only get Rachel Glenn to leave lol

I think Acquah comes back! Her progression year after year has been amazing and I don't think she's earned her degree yet! She seems like a hard worker who'd want her degree and also want a national championship! It would be huge if she comes back THATS automatically 14-18 points for us and I think it'll benefit her establishing a base and going into the 2024 Olympic

Another interesting note Tyra Gittens posted right before nationals that she moved to a different apartment Park West which is right in front of the stadium! They only sign 6 month or 12 month leases so maybeeeeeeeeee she stays to earn her degree and go for a triple title

Track team is having a team meeting right now... if any huge news about turning pro or leaving A&M early is gonna happen a possibility it happens today...

Just watched the interview with Georgia new Track Coach Caryl Smith Gilbert.
She said she always wanted to a be a head coach in the SEC and she was an assistant at Alabama and Tennessee.
She said it would be easier to recruit at Georgia since many of her recruits are from NC, Georgia, Texas area.
