In looking at the US trials that start on June 18, the schedule is set up perfectly for Athing Mu to try a 400/800 double. There are three days of rest between the 400 final and the first round of the 800. Schedule will also allow Sydney McLaughlin to try a 100/400 hurdles double. NBC would love that for ratings.

I'm curious if she will attempt to do so, she has a great shot at both, but I wonder if she risks running 3 49 second 400's and then having to run 3 fast 800's!!

Speaking of doubles...the world needs more Grant Holloway. If he only participates in the 110h this summer that's a crime. He should be on the 4x100 team at a minimum.

Definitely more of a lock to make the team in the 800m. House of Run podcast (great listen if you're a fan of track FYI) discussed Mu's options at length this past week.

Grant Holloway on Florida's 3rd leg always impressed me!!! It was crazy!

A USA 4x100 of Noah Lyles-Trayvon Bromell-Grant Holloway-Terrance Laird would be cool to watch! The possibilities for that lineup are endless! On the men's Fred Kerley and Michael Norman are locks! That 3rd spot will be a tough battle between veterans Cherry, Norwood, and newcomers like Noah Williams and Bryce Deadmon! I'm really rooting for Deadmon at the trials! Brazier would be a good leg also

His range is incredible. He ran both relays, long jumped too right?

Was just under 27 feet, and he also ran a 20.6 in the 200! He is crazy! His 4x4 legs were great also probably in the 44 range! I always wondered how he'd do in the 400 hurdles maybe sometime in the future!
Pahdz

Wonder what he'd score in the decathlon?

You seem knowledgeable about professional track! How would you make a US 4x400

Norman
Benjamin
Bednarik

Oh yeah I forgot about Benjamin! He's been looking good I wanna see him win gold! Bednarek is interesting! I wanna see how the NCAA Championships go and the trials, I wonder if Williams or Deadmon can go under 44
Pahdz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The 400h is gonna be nuts this summer between Benjamin and Karsten Warholm. That WR is on thin ice.

Bednarik has been real strong in the 200 so far. I worry about the collegians actually being able to make any team, it's a long season. History isn't on the side of the college runners making waves at trials or in the Olympics themselves.

Did she quit after that to bit risk injury in other events? What is protocol there?

I'm thinking that if she had finished it might have affected her world ranking but I don't know for sure. Looks like at least 2 other competitors withdrew after not posting marks. See the last paragraph.

There was a story about the Gotzid Hypo meet on the Track and Field News website and it had this about Annie:

"American Annie Kunz starting the hept near the bubble at 23rd among performers during the Olympic qualifying period and with seasonal bests adding up to 6452, just 2 points short of the Tokyo auto-Q mark had a great first day. She hurdled 13.12 (PR), high jumped 5-9/1.77, put the shot 49-11/15.22 and sprinted the 200 in 24.07 (PR) to lead at the break with 3897 from Anouk Vetter (3870) and Krizsn (3831).

Alas for the Texas A&M alum, the wind shifted frequently during the long jump and she fouled all three attempts, her second a promising leap had it come off the board....

Vetter scored 6536 to Kendall Williams' 6383, a yearly U.S. leader. While it was a subpar outing for the Doha 5th-placer, it was worse for the other U.S. entrants. Besides Kunz, no-mark events scuppered Taliyah Brooks (HJ) and Erica Bougard (SP)."

I hope she gets that 3rd US spot at the trials, it's going to be so interesting to follow! Also of note that as of right now, Aggie SIGNEE I repeat SIGNEE Katelyn Fairchild is considered for the javelin field of the US Trials...

Luckily for us, they don't try to turn javelin throwers pro early. Now, if you're Erriyon Knighton...

lol thank goodness, hopefully she's in the 180 range next season! She's gonna contribute really well! And hopefully her sister (who might arguably have a better high school career when she finishes) commits here too and we can have a Malone so starts part two!! Erriyon Knighton and Jayden Slade are crazy, I just hope they have good mentors so many elite high schoolers are having trouble adjusting to being an adult and professional athlete at 17/18...

Don't know if this has been brought up but this is the first time I'm seeing it, but the athletic department has teased new facilities, and although a new indoor football practice field is in the works, they're planning to either move Gilliam or remake a new entire indoor track stadium adjacent to a long throws area next to EB Cushing Stadium! I love the idea of keeping everything together! The outdoor throwing area would look beautiful and sell really well to recruits! With a new indoor facility as well!! I know this is years down the road as they will probably take care of football first but wow I'm excited! New is always better!

Gonna be a new 10k Olympic Champion. Mo Farah didn't qualify.

Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce has that 100m record on alert. She's on fire and amazing at her age. Probably one of the more likeable track athletes too.

Edit - 10.49 is still gonna be real hard to get to

I bet Sha'carri Richardson responds at the trials! I wanna see both go under 10.6 or 10.5 at the Olympics!
Pahdz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He did already "retire" to try marathons and must have just been trying to come back to 10k
Pahdz

Also Trayvon Bromell dropped a 9.77
taylorswift13
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Obviously anything can happen at trials, but Bromell is really solidifying his spot in the 100, I wonder if Lyles will ever join him, his season has been really off

Latest House of Run podcast that dropped this morning spent a good chunk discussing the men's 100m. For the US the trials are gonna be wild

Also did you see Dalilah Muhammed only run a 55 and 54.5, she said it was due to an injury earlier. Would be sad to see her lose out, although she should be down to 53 come trials, would make it easier for Shamier Little who I wanna see more than anyone make the US team
Pahdz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I did see that. She never seems to run a ton and then big meets roll around and she just drops WR or WL times. That is another event at the trials that will be awesome.

Deon Lendore won his 400m race in Florida yesterday.
Former Aggie Jamal Walton finished last in 48.8
