I think Usoro does well today. She's so far over 45 that the venue change/actually traveling to a meet won't make as much of a difference. The Georgia girl always shows out at the big meets too. After that we may have a shot at third. If Acquah places top 5 today I'd call that a huge win.

And of course the commentators on right now just said Arkansas is the heavy favorite with no one close... they're in for a surprise

Arkansas has a boatload of Texas distance runners. I wish they would have given us a serious look.

If we really want to get the distance program going, it needs to start now. With Athing Mu, we could get a good mile-3K runner that can train with her at 800M/mile. Then we could can get another person to slot in at 3K/5K to train with our miler and so on. Same thing on the men's side with Clay.
The problem is. Schools from other states, like Ark, can give more money for academics making out of pocket 1/2 the cost of Texas universities (TAMU UT TT). No one gives athletic money to CC but the academic money can be huge. That is the discrepancies and nothing we can do about that. Henry recruits national kids, all in the 200/400/800 model.

I think they are looking at the beginning stats. ARK 10 for 5K went for zero and the same girls' runs 3K today. Not a good look. All their girls' are gassed and CC nationals start Monday.

400 - 10 for MU and 4-5 for Young (15 points0
4X400 - 10 (10 points_
We need points from Deborah in Tripp (5-7 points)

What we really need is for the ARK 60H girl to finish at bottom of list,
ARK mile not finish 3 in top 5 and
we beat ARK 4X4.... and maybe they finish 3rd or lower....

We are in good shape

Deadmon runs 45.54 for 5th. He tied up then shut it down near the end.

He has not had good luck running in lane 6! Hopefully he makes it up in the 4x4

Not the best showing, but it's only the second time Smith, Mpoke, and Etiwe had ran all year! The men run a 3:06.77 which likely will finish 7th. A rough meet for Deadmon, hopefully Devin Dixon, Carlton Orange, and Dewitt Thomas can help bring us back to a dominant mile relay school

Deadmon - 45.98
James Smith - 46.82
Emajuwa Etiwe - 46.77
Moitalel Mpoke - 47.22

I'm young so I'm unfamiliar with Henry's early teams at A&M but 6 points might be one of the lowest scoring outputs A&M has had in a while. This year sucked for our men's team as Smith, Mpoke, and Lanier were battling injuries. We had Clay, Etiwe, Miller who were just freshman. Our Seniors Devin Dixon, Carlton Orange, Dewitt Thomas, and Jace Comick had no indoor eligibility. Schulman showed great improvements in the hurdles and Bishop showed excellent running in the distance.

Our outdoor team should be stacked with Jace Comick, Emmanuel Yeboah, and Ryan Martin in the 100. Devon Achane, Lance Broome, Jace Comick in the 200. Bryce Deadmon, Devin Dixon, Emajuwa Etiwe, Moitalel Mpoke, Jake Lanier in the 400. Dixon, Carlton Orange, Brandon Miller, Allon Clay, Mpoke in the 800. Jon Bishop, Eric Casarez, Gavin Hoffpauir, Wes Mcphail. in the 1500/5000/10000. Zephyr Seagraves in the steeple. Connor Schulman, Andre Turay in the 110 hurdles. James Smith, Dewitt Thomas in the 400 hurdles. Josh Brown in the discus. William Peterson, Nick Mirabelli, Sam Hankins in the javelin! Sean Clarke, Logan Freeman, and Zach Davis in the pole vault. Carter Bajoit in the high jump. Darius Clark in the long jump, CJ Stevenson in the triple. And great relays! All these men have a great shot at qualifying to the National prelims if healthy! Better days ahead!

Well they clearly have ran better splits before. And have had over of year of training... they're both great runners. We've seen Dewitt Thomas have to step into a indoor national relay a couple years back when Deadmon was injured and he produced and has been on a relay that's gone 3:01 outdoors. And Orange was on the national relay leading team last year before Covid hit. They have experience and toughness and I'd want them on our relay along with Deadmon and Dixon.

We have also a couple of other guys who can contribute. Kirk Collins in the 110 hurdles and 400m hurdles. He has improved with every meet in the 60m hurdles. Luke Barrett in the hammer throw. I am not sure if he is redshirting but hasn't competed yet. Then there is the other high jumpers in Mason Corbin and Jake Lamberth. We have seen the improvement in the high jump on the women side but the men are still struggling. I think what we need to be a force to be reckon with outdoors is sprinters and hurdlers who can score points. We have been struggling in the sprint and short hurdles over the last few years. In the past we would always have a couple of good 200m runners who would make finals and score but that has dried up some years now. The key is to have a couple of potential scorers in several events. Look at Oregon today from the sprints to the distance they had scorers. We would also always have very good triple and long jumpers who have done well at NCAAs. We have a good outdoor team but we need consistency and just have to wait and see who emerges as potential scorers on the men side.

Long jump coming up in about 15 minutes on the ESPN App. This even will be big for us. Deborah Acquah is coming with a seasons best 45'1 ranked 4th, and is one of only 4 jumpers over 45 this season. The next best in the competition is 44'7. Deborah had a rough day in the long jump yesterday, an event she could have easily medaled in, so I'm sure she's hoping to make it back up today! Her performance is important to our team title hopes as we don't have as many girls competing today. If Acquah places top 4 this will set the tone tremendously for our women!

The main competitors are Ruth Usoro of Texas Tech who is way ahead of the field. Jasmine Moore a Texas high school sensation from Georgia. Ruta Lasmane an international jumper out of Florida State. These are the only three to have marks better than Deborah Acquah. Usoro and Moore may be difficult to catch but let's hope we can beat Lasmane

I was confused by this I guess. It refers to the long jump twice. But I think I know what OP means
