Here is a breakdown between us and Arkansas based solely on who's been entered and not scratched to compete at nationals! Obviously Arkansas has the benefit of the doubt in the numbers game as they have many girls entered, but we just have too many girls towards the top to give us the edge.
Ironically based on the rankings entered into the meet, we edge them by ONE point lol. But that does not take into consideration that Charokee Young hasn't ran an open 400 in a while, or how Lamara Distin was stopped before attempting 6+, or how we just saw Katie Izzo lose in the 5000, or how Deborah Acquah didn't get to improve on her marks at Conference.
As we all know track meets can be wild and have many unexpected outcomes as there are many variables that go into a race every day! But I really like our chances here to surpass this point projection, and come out on top! By having Mu run the 400, this one saves her legs for the 4x400, two let's her get a record, and 3 gives Arkansas less chance to score. If Syaira can run the open 400 like she did on the record relay she can very possibly move into the top 8 and we can score 16-18 points in the 400 alone completely shutting out Arkansas! Hopefully Lamara is healthy and can jump 6'1 as that should almost guarantee a 4th! If we can sneak Jania or Laila into the 200 finals that can be a cherry on the pie, as well as, Arkansas getting beat in the distance events! Especially since they are doing the DMR and it's on day one, Arkansas can be held back a little!
These are not official given there can still be some scratches or medical scratches, but I feel good about our ladies bringing home a 10th track and field national title and 1st woman's indoor title back to Texas A&M! Sorry if the post is long or takes up too much space, I love data and track lol!
