Not sure how anyone can argue our bench is elite. Unless we go get a big in the next 36 hours, the only thing elite about our bench is how bad it is on defense

Chicago and Philly won tonight.

Right now, we are cheering for:

Chicago
Philly
Toronto
Portland

Atlanta can fall below all of them. Portland playing now.

Chicago just got a lot worse. Philly could make a run if Embiid can stay on the court. No idea on Toronto. Portland only matters if ATL doesn't make the playoffs, which in the East isn't a guarantee

Chicago is one game back in the win column from Atlanta. We have to hope for Ewing theory to happen here.

And even if Chicago is likely to suck the rest of the year, Atlanta's lost eight of the last nine and they are out their second best player.

No matter what their situations we want Chicago and Philly to jump Atlanta

Would love for it to happen, and the Spurs have been charmed with lottery luck.

Between Atlantas and Spurs picks, we have about a 5 percent chance of winning the lottery and 20 percent chance of top 4.

Regardless of what Atlanta does, and they are not going to intentionally tank, our odds are going to be low this year. I was glad we got the four spot last year, as at the time it felt like a big dropoff after four. When we got Wemby,, we had a 14 percent chance of the top pick and a 52 percent chance of top four. And the Spurs just got better.

So our odds are about a third of what they were in past years. I support hope and dreams and getting in the top four, but we will likely have two picks somewhere between 9 and 13. In a deep draft, I hope that at least one of those works out as either a solid starter or a solid rotation guy. I would like to see the Spurs draft a wrecking ball 4, a big that can provide muscle against some bigs on defense and to push his way to the basket.

Maybe it's just getting caught up in the moment, but I keep thinking that this might cause some kind of war between players and owners and a flood damn opens of players demanding out because if they can be shipped off at a moments notice, they will likely want to be in their preferred spot sooner than later.

There's no telling at this point what can change between now and the draft. Those two picks could be bundled for something as well. Could be a player we didn't even know was available. Luka wasn't available until he was.

I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I kinda love that so many other teams are dealing with the same **** we did with Kawhi. It takes the sting out. The chaos is probably a good thing for the NBA, because this season has been lame as hell so far.

Reports of us being interested in Jakob and Claxton. Definitely don't want to do either if any 1sts are involved.

Fan wet dreams. Both will get a first and neither will be happy to be a 15-20m backup. They are both starters. Claxton gets almost as much as Vassell. Plus neither can play PF because they can't shoot

Just get Atlanta into the lottery so the murray trade still has potential to be the biggest heist of all time and the haters cry about Spurs draft luck.

No, ATL won't intentionally tank, but they are actively trying to cut salary because they have luxury tax issues next year. They were trying to move Bogi, but he has been how ass this year, so they are trying to move Hunter, who has helped them a ton.

Hawks are 1M from the lux tax this year and 23M next year with 4 empty roster spots, 2 first round picks, and 3 FA rotation players including their two best shooters on the 25th best 3pt shooting team.

I can see them making a deal in the next day and it probably won't be a "get better at basketball" deal.

But they also have a very moody #1 star and a very injured #2 star. They are unquestionably volatile.

Hawks have lost 8 of their last 9. Trae has a strained achilles tendon and is day to day. Capela is out. Johnson is gone for the season. Bogi is out.

Toronto and Portland have been really hot lately.

Right now, Hawks win lead over other teams:

Bulls: 1
Blazers: 1
Spurs: 2
76ers 3
Nets: 6
Toronto: 7

Just swapping with Bulls and Blazers makes it a 23% chance of top 4. Philly makes it a 1/3 shot at top 4 and an average pick of 6.

It isn't that unrealistic that Atlanta plays 3 games worse than several of those teams the rest of the way. Especially if their front office sucks at the deadline, which should almost be expected.

In any event, I don't think it should be argued that we are cheering for the Bulls, Blazers, 76ers, and even Nets and Raptors. And we should hope Atl does something stupid and pisses off Trae in the process.

Castle gets to play 100% of his minutes with Chris Paul or DeAaron Fox. Gonna average 18ppg for the rest of the year.

If Sidy and two 2nds is all it takes to get a guy like Jonas V, I expect the spurs will have a new backup center before the deadline

Jonas is dead last in the league in paint defense. There are traffic cones that play better defense.

11 assists on 13 FGM in the 1st quarter.

4 for Paul
3 for Fox
3 for Castle
1 for Vassell

This is like an All Star game with some of this defense.

The Spurs are playing fast but out of control. If Fox isn't the one pushing it then slow down.

Yes.

The Hawks are not very good, but the difference in the Spots is noticable. The small lineup played a lot faster and more efficient than I thought they would.

We need to do a blitz team with Fox, Castle, Julian, Keldon, Sochan and just run the **** out of teams. SSOL is nothing compared to their pace

Hate this. Love Paul's leadership but we can't placate Paul and shove Castle to the bench.
