Even Herb Jones. The best Alabama player in the draft.

Josh Primo: Recently waived by the Windy City bulls.

Sengun: Makes first all star team.
What could have been.

Could have been my man Trey Murphy.

The only issue with these hypotheticals, is that any of these dudes being on the roster probably precludes the Spurs from getting the #1 pick in 2023.

Also, IMO, any deal for Fox involving Castle is a no for me. Especially if it includes any of the valuable 1sts the spurs have. I could be convinced if they are taking back Collins and some 2nds. But outside of that, "that's a no for me, dawg." Castle is going to be great. They can have Vassell.

Not necessarily. Houston had the exact same record as the spurs with Sengun in 2023. And we could have at least gotten a championship level role player which would have been huge. But I get what you're saying.

PARIS -- The desire to play with Victor Wembanyama may someday draw fellow stars to the San Antonio Spurs, but he's already attracting the next generation.

That was the message Saturday from A.J. Dybantsa, who is the nation's top-rated high school player and potential No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft. Dybantsa, who committed to BYU in December, traveled to Paris this week for the NBA's Global Games and to get an up-close look at Wembanyama, telling ESPN he would like the Spurs to draft him next year so they can pair up.

"I think Victor is just ridiculous; the things he does are just crazy," said Dybantsa, whose Utah Prep (Hurricane, Utah) high school team had the week off. "I just think we would've been a crazy duo. Now the odds of that happening are very slim. But I mean, it was just a thought that came up in my mind when he got drafted. But you never know."

The Spurs have nearly equaled their win total from last season already, and with Wembanyama improving, the odds of the Spurs being at the top of the 2026 draft when Dybantsa is projected to go do make the short-term chances of the pairing a little hard to see at the moment.

The 6-foot-9 Dybantsa, who turns 18 on Wednesday, coming to see these Paris games this week is a reminder of two years ago when a 19-year-old Wembanyama sat courtside at a Detroit Pistons-Chicago Bulls game. Wembanyama was the central attraction in Saturday's game against the Indiana Pacers, a progression Dybantsa would like to follow.

"That's the goal," Dybantsa said.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/43559923/dybantsa-top-nba-prospect-26-hopes-play-wembanyama

As noted, the chances of the Spurs drafting high enough to get this guy are slim. But it shows the level of interest there is in playing with Wemby. The Spurs FO will hopefully take full advantage.

Right now, Spurs absolutely hardline the Hawks 25 pick and Castle. If you trade that 25 pick without protections and they hit the lottery again (or even top 3) and you miss out on Flagg, Harper, or Bailey to get 27yo Fox AND you gave up 3+ other assets, you have just made one of the worst trades ever.

If they want the Hawks pick, I'm putting top 6 protections on it at least.

The Hawks likely drop below the Bulls and other teams and that means the Bulls pick likely converts this year.

Hawks are 2 games above SA, Chicago and Philly. They are 3 games above Portland (who has won 6 of last 7) They are 5.5 games above Toronto. Before you laugh, Toronto has won 7 of their last 8 including Boston, GSW and Orlando.

If they drop to where Portland is, there is a 1/3 chance at top 4 and average pick is #6. Drop to Toronto's spot and there is a 40% chance at top 4 and average pick is 5.

In Bill Simmons trade value pod, he put Castle at 40th most valuable in the league because of his prospect at being great in the future.

I want to frame this post. It's beautiful. THIS is how you make a point on the internet. Well researched, as always. Could not possibly agree more.

You can talk me into any players on the team outside of Wemby and Castle, and any picks outside of the Atlanta pick coming up. After that, there's too many variables for my taste, but this Atlanta pick looks absolutely TASTY.

Thanks!

You think Fox wants to come here now? Land the 3rd pick and get Ace Bailey. He's 6'10 and tearing it up in Big 10 conference play. His last 5 games he has put up 25.8p, 8.6r, 1.8b, 1s on 56/55/92 shooting. Six threes attempted per game.

If we trade that Hawks pick for Fox we become first round fodder. We bump the bulls down to protected and ours isn't lottery. Instead of a top 6, top 10 and 11-13th pick, we just have #15 or 16.

That top six pick guarantees you Flagg, Harper, Bailey, KJ from Illinois, VJ from Baylor, dirty sip Tre Johnson, or anyone else you fancy.

Also, Wemby's BFF Windhorst just said Castle is off the table.

Dusty posted something like thirty minutes before Don and Don's just parroting here. That's why he quickly walked it back

From a lightly followed, aggregator that seems to repost every rumor out there. Likely full if ****, but curious everyone's opinions of a deal like this:

That seems to be too good to be true for the Spurs. Sacramento not getting win-now type players so not likely.

Simmons had him 40th on trade value. Vassell was 61.

Scottie Barnes, Sengun, LeBron and others are after Castle.

And I think Castle was too low. Trey Murphy, Josh Hart and Dyson Daniels above him?

Judging by postgame this deal is about done.

Keldon taking the mike postgame randomly to thank the city and fans. Vassell pouting while postgame PC.

Wemby saying postgame change happens and trades happen.

Think Keldon and Vassell are both gone.

Nice to see Keldon cook if it was his last game in the silver and black, but they will typically hold players out of the game if they are getting moved.

There was the time the Mavs were shopping Harrison Barnes and they finished the deal during the game, but he had insisted on playing that game. He got pulled from the game when the deal was done.

But teams don't want these things to fall apart because of an injury, like what happened to DeJounte.

I agree with you. Why I said about done.

But there was zero reason for Keldon to make that speech. Devin was so pouty in interviews even though he had a phenomenal game

Then Wemby getting philosophical about change and trades. Something is up and they all know it.

Spurs do post game interviews in the arena after most wins nowadays. Also, Devin pouting is like due to him knowing he needs to play better. He has not played well lately and knows it. I think it's probably nothing.

My late grandmother was the biggest spurs fan in all of Texas. She could tell you their on court stats and off court drama on demand.

I'm really trying to get into keeping up with the Spurs in her honor.

Man Wemby is special. Casual threes off the logo and murdering the rim and denies buckets so quickly.
