Not sure what you're getting at here. He's not going to openly cook the Adleson family and what they did - no matter what... and why would he? So he abstained.

But if you actually looked at the whole interview, it's CLEAR he felt it was a very bad trade.

Think about it - he brought up basically how they could have (and should have) gotten more for Luka. Secondly, he talked about sometimes you don't make the best decisions.

It's not hard to see he's in the same majority camp as the rest of us on this dumb deal.

Nico will welcome being fired and will blame it on unlucky injuries and a dumb fan base that doesn't understand basketball. He'll be laughing it up at his next gig probably with Kyrie or AD on the team as 3rd tier stars. I don't see a way out. They're all laughing at us. It's Deandre Jordan saga and post 2007, 2008 feeling again suddenly. I don't know when I'll recover. During the dark years of the late 2000s winning 55 games a year but being a laughingstock in the playoffs and free agency I still had Dirk. Now latching on to the Lakers is just weird. They say it's a generational change where younger fans follow players instead of their home teams. I'm seeing it.

I'm with Ben. Still not over it. Need time

I wouldn't touch Nico with a 10 ft pole - best he can hope for is some ball licking position in the lakers office.

So Nico is fired at the end of the season or maybe before, but what about the owners? Do they even care? Their ROE is crap right now.

haha i didn't realize it's an NBA rule that a team MUST have 8 active players. I'm curious what would have happened if they were down 1 more man? Like, would the NBA allow them to activate another G leaguer?

Wow so apparently OMax is questionable which means the Mavs could fall below the required 8 player minimum. They are hard hard capped at the 1st apron, so they can't sign any FAs, they also can't use a 10 day contract, and they can't assign any more 2 way players.

There's a chance they might have to forfeit tonight's game unless they use a loophole of designating an injured player as "active" and simply not using them.

What a disaster.

Can we put the "Kyrie got injured because of the minutes" narrative to bed?

You're correct. The mavs have the best front office and trainers in the game! I look forward to their playoff run this year.

Nobody is saying that.

What people are doing is saying untrue things in order to join in on the pile-on.

The trade is bad enough without the false narratives. They aren't necessary.

Disagree. It may not have been the "direct" cause, but it was the obvious by product of shipping out Luka (and Grimes). Kyrie had to be the primary ballhandler EVERY minute of EVERY game & w/ that comes increased minutes which naturally creates increased injury opportunity.

It "could" have happened to anyone at any time, but it didn't happen until Kyrie (an old player with injury history) was asked to play the most minutes in the league.

Anyone who thinks there's no link to Kyrie's workload, increased minutes, and this injury are sane washing Nico's trade.

Then you should also blame Luka for always being fat and out of shape and being hurt most of the season, forcing Kyrie to carry more workload even before the trade.

Good for the goose…

Absolutely no incentive? They have a deal in place, so screw the ratings, who cares? That does not make sense to me.

I think some of the conspiracy theories are over the top and I am not sure I agree with that post, but the notion that the league would have no reason to do that since they currently have a deal in place is a bit ridiculous to me.
DannyDuberstein

I don't think it was a league conspiracy, but I also sure don't think Nico minded giving the Lakers a long-term boost with the thought that it will pay off for him personally some day. I think he stupidly thought he could win a title here with AD this year or next, then could ride off to that next gig seen as a champion but also thought well of in LA (and with major players in the business with ties in some way to the Lakers doing well - which is a long list). Instead he's the biggest joke in sports

I hate the trade as much as anyone but Kyries workload had zero to do with his injury. It was a freak collision, not a wear and tear type of injury. Could've happened if he was playing 25 minutes a game. Stuff like this happens. Still sucks.

That's very true but the more minutes he plays, the more chances to get hurt.

Don't have time for a full +/- trade tracker today, but thought I should note that Luka was +37 on 3/4. AD has bested this once in 779 career games with a +38 on 4/4/2018.

Such an informative statistic, really enjoying learning more about the game. Will be back with a full update to objectively check on the status of trade next week.

Hey, it was only +16 last night… as they beat the team with the 4th best record in the league in OT. Oh wait, I guess that +16 was pretty useful

And the fatass played 43 minutes and put up a 32/7/12. So out of shape

Luka's +- is averaging +10 since the trade. Dirk's was a little over +4 for his career. Lebron's is +5 across his career.

USELESS FATASS!

Mac McClung has the 2nd best +/- in the league. Hartenstein, Isaiah Joe, and Alex Caruso are all top 15. Meanwhile, bums like Giannis barely make top 50.

Yeah, Lebron with his (checks notes) +6 compared to Luka and his (checks notes again) +72 over their last 3 games. Lebrons back must be really tired. Or at least his arm from waving the towel so much while Luka is on the floor.
