I don't either, but they are a difficult 5/6 for whoever secures 3 or 4. The top 2 seeds in the West are going to be so important. The 3 and the 2 could be the difference between playing PHX/MEM or playing LAC/NO/SAC.

Jones is just the fit that the Suns needed, other than maybe a better Center.

I'm really stoked about this season. I've been consuming about as much Mavs content as I have Aggie Football content recently.

The depth on this team is really crazy and we have guys who bring lots of different skillsets. One of Hardy, Exum, and Dinwiddie is going to be riding a lot of bench. Really looking forward to seeing what the rotations are. Hoping we can steal a couple more minutes per game of Luka on the bench in the regular season. Need him healthy for the postseason. The further development of Lively will be really fun to see too.

Unless things go really awry, we should at least be hosting in the first round of the playoffs, and probably contending with OKC and Minnesota for the 1 seed. Watching highlights from last season, you see guys like Seth Curry, Grant Williams, and Dwight Powell in the game. Y'all know my stance on THJ. Addition by subtraction there, and the guy replacing his skillset is one of the best shooters in league history.

For some reason our season win total O/U has gone down from 50.5 to 49.5. If you are in to that sort of thing, I would bet your entire net worth on the over.

For people like me who love defense. Watch Lively as a taller Kevin Garnett starter kit. If he plays 75 games, we probably have 55+ wins on the season.

Another reason I'm really excited about this season. Naji Marshall is so much more gifted offensively than DJJ is. You can see in this clip he can really handle the ball and he has really good court vision, two things that were completely nonexistent in DJJ's game. I love the tweet that appears in the middle of this video that says that Naji thinks he is the best passer in the league. If his 3P% from last season is not just an outlier, the Mavs will have numerous really scary lineup combinations. The Mavs offense is going to be silly good.

I think by the middle of the season, Naji will be up there with Lively as fans' favorite non-Luka Mav.

I'll stake my claim to the Mavs being a 55+ win team and a bold prediction will be that Klay shoots 43% from 3, which would be the 3rd best of his career.

Less than 2 weeks until the first preseason game.

I don't think the Mavs get to 55, and I'm not sure I'd take the over on 49.5 (Current vegas win odds).

It's not that they couldn't, but I think there will be some load management and regular season "who cares" after playing in the NBA Finals.

I would rather pick them to reach WCF than be a top 3 seed in the West.

Yeah the 55 wins is just a fun prediction, but I think 50 is pretty easily attainable.

The Mavs won 50 games last year after drastically improving their team at the trade deadline, tanked the final 2 games, and got better over the offseason. If the Mavs don't win 50 then I think we are talking about something having gone completely wrong. We are talking about Klay being completely cooked as a player, Grimes and Naji aren't worth guarding for opposing defenses, PJ regresses as a player, and there is no jump from Lively.

I know Luka and Kyrie miss games for stuff, but those guys, especially Luka, don't sit for load management. If Luka is healthy, he plays. He doesn't like to sit. Kyrie and Klay are the only old guys on the team who may need load management, but the Mavs have depth to cover losses for a game or two and even longer. The Mavs' depth is pretty insane. Mavs have good enough to weather the storm for any loss other than Luka and then maybe PJ would be a weird loss that would stress the Mavs.

I watched for about 5 minutes and realized it wasn't going to be anything more than a glorified pickup game.

One thing I noticed that was slightly concerning and the box score seems to show this kept happening, but it looked like they went back to calling really soft fouls like they were at the beginning of last season.

I don't think it was a coincidence that the Mavs had a good record in the back half of last year when they were allowed to be really physical on defense.

Would be bad for the Mavs as a team and for the league as a watchable product to go back to the way it had been before the second half of last season.

Klay makes his Mavs debut tonight!

Klay missed a couple open shots early but he finished 3/5 from 3 and had several really nice passes. Going to be fun for sure. Some of the shots he got off were awesome.

Grimes is nice. Will be a great complimentary piece.

Naji can do some stuff with the ball. Gets in to the lane and knows where to go with the ball. Gets a little out of control, but it seemed like they were pushing him to create in this game. He won't be in the same positions in most normal games. Seems like he really wants to get to his floater, passing a couple decent looks from 3. I really like him though.
