Unbelievable to allow Jimmy to get free like that for a thing dunk…

Then a ridiculous shot by Dinwiddie at the buzzer. But what would you expect when he sees Luka do it all the time…

Dinwiddie is so bad and it's so frustrating that this coaching staff thinks he's good and should be playing in OT games.

Dinwiddie lost us that game, or rather Kidd did for playing dinwiddie.

But still should have won. Kyrie uncharacteristically missed a free throw late and then not sure how we allowed butler to be that open.

Don't have the numbers but Kyrie has been pretty poor for his standards in clutch FT shooting. He's missed important FTs late in at least 3 games that I can remember. Crazy, because it seemed like he never missed a clutch FT last year.

But agreed that this was just bad coaching by Kidd to allow Dinwiddie to look like a fool on the court. That should have been Grimes by a mile.

I just heard that the Heat were coming off 5 days of rest because of a rescheduled Shakira concert that had to be moved from a smaller arena to the Heat arena.

Apparently the Heat play 5 back to backs in the next 15 days, but the Mavs took a schedule L because Miami didn't realize their population really likes Shakira.

3 - 7 in clutch games now. That means of 7 of the 8 Mavericks losses are considered clutch games.

At this point blame has to go towards the coaching staff because you are losing these games on the margins. On the other hand it is a long regular season and you want to keep everyone fresh, healthy, and engaged. Maybe this just means that Mavs aren't really as deep as you would hope:

Luka
Kyrie
PJ
Lively
Klay
Naji
Grimes
Gafford

That is 8 players I would trust in a playoff series right now. That is actually not a bad number, maybe a little thin, but that is about what you want in a playoff series. Those guys will eat up the bulk of minutes anyways.

Hardy
Spencer
O-Max
Maxi

Those 4 players just aren't giving the Mavs a whole lot, or at least they are very inconsistent. Exum coming back might fix the Hardy/Spencer issue, but until then couldn't Kidd just keep a short leash with those guys? No way Spencer should be allowed to miss 11 shots in a winnable game like last night. That's crazy. Not sure how to fix the O-Max/Maxi backup 4/5 issue other than a trade. I'm also not sure it is worth investing any trade assets unless they can get DFS without giving up a 1st.

I'm not going to argue that we have a superior Xs and Os coach, but a lot of the clutch losses are on players.

The GS loss is squarely on Luka being lazy and allowing a winning wide open layup. I don't think they are coached to flub the switch and allow Jimmy to dunk it to send it to OT yesterday. Or for Luka to dribble for 23 seconds and take a logo 3 in the Denver loss. The offense also has a tendency to turn in to step back 3 hunting by Kyrie/Luka/Dinwiddie in the clutch. Kidd wants them to push the ball and get to early offense, but the offense completely changes in the clutch, and it appears to be driven by the players, in my opinion.

I think Kidd could be a lot better, especially with some of the rotations, but the players also have to make the plays late and they haven't done that often enough yet.

Hopefully klay / grimes were just resting. This team needs to get healthy sooner or later.

Grimes was out for sickness while Klay was out for a foot thing. I couldn't watch the game, but I heard that Lively left in the middle because he was so sick and that Naji Marshall just looked like he was trying to play through sickness. Apparently the team caught something right before Miami.

It's so freaking awesome having one of those guys who can drive, pull up and just make a shot. Kyrie is one of those and he's on our team!

Somehow that was the emptiest 37 points on 14/21 shooting from Brunson you'll ever see lol.

We are so much more fun to watch without Luka. It won't happen, but the offense should run through Kyrie much more when Luka comes back, especially late in games.

The problem is that luka doesnt really do much off ball. He kinda just stands there

The way the team has played without Luka should allow the team to rest him until he can come back completely healthy to where he can get in to the paint on offense. If Luka isn't healthy enough to get in to the middle of the defense and create lobs or kick outs for 3 then the offense is really ugly with him running it.

The activity on defense has been so much fun to watch.

I don't think anybody thinks the team is better without Luka, but the team has undoubtedly been better without an unhealthy Luka.

It helps that the schedule has gotten much lighter. Trips to Utah and Portland coming up. Both teams stink.

Not sure if anybody saw anything on this, but it really seems like they are bringing Luka back for this game because Kyrie, Marshall, and Lively are having to miss it.

Doesn't make any sense to plan to bring him back for a road game in Portland.

I've been betting mavs every game that Luka is out. Bet us tonight thinking he'd be out again. And then define out he's playing and Kyrie and naji are out. Welp that's a loss.

To be fair we are a skeleton crew. No Exum, Kyrie, Naji, Klay, or Lively. That's better than Portland's starting 5 lol.

The Klay thing is weird. Seems like that injury popped up out of nowhere and we have no idea on when he'll be back.

Plantar facsitis is a career ending injury depending on severity. Really have to give it time.

Schedule is very easy the rest of this month. Need to rack up a bunch of wins.

Dinwiddie has had a nice stretch since the debacle in Miami. Can't believe I'm saying this but he needs Hardy's minutes when everyone is healthy. Hardy is unplayable right now. It has looked really bad so far.

11 games in the month of December.
3 are against Portland.
(And the 4th Portand game is 1/9)

Seems unusual.

Theres a few players that are splitting minutes, imo, and you just play whichever one is in good form.

Do we know who's out tonight?

Hoping we can take this one against a red hot grizz team on a 6 game win streak, we're on a 4 game streak ourselves
