The draw is ridiculously pointless. You have a seeded table already created after the group stage. There is no need for a draw. 1-8 get a bye round. It should simply be 9 v 24, 10 v 23, 11 v 22 and so on down the line.

This is purely so they can have a draw television broadcast to make some extra money of ads and tv while jerking themselves off with highlights and such.

I like this idea for champions league

Marcotti: I think the only people who like what I'm about to say are me and Theo Theodoridis, the UEFA general secretary. But if we want to make the seeds really relevant, we should let the top seed pick whatever opponent they like (and whether they want to play home or away first.) Second seed gets next pick and so on. Not only would it enhance the narrative, but it would also avoid freak situations where a team does well and then get stuck playing Manchester City or someone like that who happen to have underachieved and drawn a lower

I saw someone positing that on IG the other day and thought it was brilliant. Would never happen but would be great. Picking teams that they thought they had a tactical or personnel advantage I ever. Or for ****ing revenge.

And it would make an even juicier show than a draw. Make a club's prez get up on stage and throw down. Put them on a clock, NFL draft style.

They could also bring back some old exclusions (same country; played already in league phase).
