There view is big deal on that.. Sumlin is not going to work any harder. His mistakes go beyond DCs and OCs at this point. They believe they can pay less than his buyout would be after next season.

Again, if the OC thing was settled and Spav was fired months ago. Why hasn't the new OC been announced? Chavis was announced well before he signed any formal agreement with us. Why cannot the same be done for the OC?

You should know if they have a replacement or not. I saw how this went in 2011. The replacement is always found first before the move is made.

I disagree with this. If sumlin is becoming a cancer, then we do not need to wait. Our program is trending in the wrong direction. Recruiting, public perception, team all are in disarray.

Something is causing all of this. It is not some poster on texags burning down the house. Their is starting to be some smoke. Is the fire coming soon?

We should not feel like we are being held hostage by sumlin because it is the 1st week of January, and signing day is 30 days away. If it needs to be done, then do the right thing and move forward.

That's not always true. That's certainly how the last one played out though.

Still, I think Sumlin gets rebuffed by the NFL and is our HC next year. No sources, just opinion.

Sumlin doesn't want to be here but he is just not going to walk away from our idiotic contract.

We would waive the NFL buyout fee on our end if he left. We have let that be known.

He wants another job, and we want him to get one. Why do you think we are letting this ridiculous dance with NFL teams happen. He won't get the job (though I hope otherwise) and will take half the buyout.

I haven't read this whole thread either but to your point.

I believe Sumlin's #1 Hot seat ranking puts the 2017 class at risk so personally would rather end it now and lose a few for 2016 if that's the tradeoff.

Also if we could somehow afford Kelly or get Herman we would make alot of recruits happy enough to stick and maybe bring some new ones especially from U of H if Herman.

I've found that listening is the best way to get answers. There was a lot of anger at first, so I really can believe they did not have a target. They wanted Sumlin gone but others are saying they do now. I just don't know. Factions want different people. It happens every coaching search.

Kelly is not coming back to college. Herman isn't bailing on UH two weeks before signing day. Do you people read what you post?

Just proved my point. Even just asking the question results in insinuations of racism, lol. We exist in a cultural climate that is hyper-sensitive about race. I don't know that it was a motivator in getting us here, but it's totally sensible to speculate that it might have been. It's the Obama syndrome. We have a culture that desperately wants someone like Sumlin to succeed - because of his race. That's why if you criticize him, you get called a racist by certain people. This reveals the bias and true motive of the person defending him. Clearly some people are overlooking Sumlin's flaws because of his race... some commenters here are evidence of that.... all I'm saying.

I write this respectfully to you both, LDW and BTA.

There are a lot of readers who enjoy reading what both of you have to share. Why not simply post your views and what you have heard - and leave out the jabs at each other.

Many of us would hate for staff to take you both off-line for 'ugliness' toward each other.

After we see what happens in the next couple of weeks - then you can try to tear off the head of each other and drink the loser's blood! : )
